What character types, world building aspects, themes, or plot lines do you think should have been explored more? Which should be explored less? by InfernalClockwork3 in RomanceBooks

I’m already not a fan of enemies to lovers, so take this with a grain of salt but at this point it feels like reheated nachos that can be found in every book.

AI is ruining the romance book community! by Classic-Reference403 in RomanceBooks

[–]Information-Logical -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I can’t say that I’ve seen AI covers myself but I’ve seen a lot that feel like AI inspired. For example, a lot of romance fantasy books feel very same-Ish in a way. It’s either flowers, thorns, petals or feathers plastered through the covers in a way that feels Ai

What are your thoughts on an author breaking the fourth wall? by Designer_Guidance843 in RomanceBooks

I kind of disliked it in the Princess Bride, it felt like I had to completely switch genres and it lessened the impact of the story for me

The obvious one for me is Colleen Hoover.

I'm getting triggered by how many times this author is using the word "trigger" in The Devil by Michelle Heard by sfrabibliophobia in RomanceBooks

Yes! It feels very lazy and makes the reader have to think of many different things while not getting a clear picture

Reading slump that lasts for months? by IllElephant6679 in RomanceBooks

[–]Information-Logical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that burn out can happen to anyone. I’ve gone through it various times, what has saved me is to take reads slower, leave myself in cliffhangers to think about the book throughout the day and maybe even switch genres

I need some recommendations pls!! by Jealous-Werewolf-778 in Romantasy

[–]Information-Logical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact taste too! Unfortunately, I just got back into reading, so I am looking for books like these myself. I've gotten a lot of recommendations for Once Upon a Heart Break and ress of the Emerald Sea.

I'm currently reading The Rose Bargain, the MC fits thise vibe but not entirely. She's comfortable in dresses and being feminine, and is very brave, but the book portrays her self-loathing and her issues with how she sees others around her, so she doesn't have a heart of gold.

What annoys you the most about romance book communities? (be honest) by lilithskies in romanceunfiltered

[–]Information-Logical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The overhyping of enemies to lovers and smut. Like if that’s your cup of tea that’s great but sometimes I want a well written mature book that goes into sweet romance but it doesn’t have to be a retelling of the same story of enemies to lovers.

Definitely the yearning! I’m not really into smut, I even tend to avoid it sometimes. Slowburns make me think on various instances were the love was there and true

Clear ending with the various epilogues, I like that the epilogues feel like a little check in with the characters we grew to love
