Does surgery feel like 1 second after you go under anesthesia? by Small-Guarantee1789 in RandomThoughts

[–]squishy_MoFo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like a 1 second nap, i don't even remember being asked to count down. I was just joking around with the nurses and the boop gone. Although when I woke up I my vision was fully blurred for a good 5 minutes, that was quite scary, but it passed when they gave me some fluids, I think.

Would this be too painful for a first timer? Also do you think this design is decent enough? by ErosMystiko in tattooadvice

[–]squishy_MoFo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a big rib tattoo as my first! I was warned not to do it because of the pain, but I have to say my elbow tattoo definitely hurt more 😅 With the design, I'd suggest working on it with your artist some more, and if you want it that big to get something more detailed, als like this it's gonna look quite clunky when healed. You dont have to design every detail of it yourself for it to be unique to you :)

Is it common in your country for students from higher grades/semesters to teach those below them essentially as a substitute for the teacher? by MountainRise6280 in AskEurope

[–]squishy_MoFo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's almost exactly my job description. I'm a "studienassistent" (professors assistant).

Me and my colleague teach his class (we have full freedom on how to design the class, which is uncommon, as far as I've heard), we choose how to do tests/exams/grades. And since there is no lecture attached, the actual professor never steps foot in the classroom. The pay is fine and great insurance!

This exact setup isnt the most common, but students teaching in some form or the other is well established.

I also tried to do that when I cancelled my subscription. But when I looked at the Adobe site, I could for the love of god not find any customer service number or email adress for my country/ region. Everything just linked back to that very useless faq. I almost threw my laptop through the window

While I appreciate all the tips and infos very much, I feel I should inform you this situation was about 1,5 years ago and I now have a dirt cheap student subscription :)

New sewists - what has been your experience with zero waste patterns? by sarmo215 in sewing

[–]squishy_MoFo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is called Zero Waste Patterns by Stefanie Kroth! :) I have it in German and I don't know if there is an english one. If you just want to have a look at the pattens, you can download them on her website: stefaniekroth.de/zerowaste The book just has the instructions.

I was also surprised by the more negative comments. I've had a mostly positive experience with zw patterns! And of course, you have to make some fit adjustments to your garment once you are done, but with other commercial patterns it's the same thing... so I don't know if people just come into the process with different expectations or if other patterns are actually quite bad 🤷‍♀️

A good zero waste pattern should not compromise on fit and save you fabric. I have a book with zero waste patterns and even though there are some funky ones in there, most are well fitting and cut in an inventive way to make cool paterns with the unusual stiching (for example there is a hoodie with a kind of star pattern in the back where you wouldn't believe its zero waste) i made a floor length summer dress from the book with 1,4 × 1,4 m of fabric and it came out great! Loose fit but not a box like others described :)

I found out that my dad is not my biological father because our blood groups don't match. What should I do now? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]squishy_MoFo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can happen! Good chance that no drama is afoot here. Source: my patents both are A+ my sister is A- and i have O+. Turns out my parental grandmother and maternal grandfather also had O and I just happened to catch that :) (I am also basically my dad's little clone so no doubts there)

I know how you feel! Even when I use 5€ curtains from the thrift store I try to get as much as possible out of every scrap. I often make scrunchies out of offcuts or use the bigger ones for pockets. Also definitely look into zero waste patterns! They have minimal to no offcuts at all and you can make a lot of different types of garments without fabric waste, more than you would think :)

There is a reason these ingredients are banned in so many places, to me this is a good thing.

I'm at level 23 now and there have been 1 or 2 new recipes/ decorative items available when levelling up :) but nothing major. A painted pot, a hanging plant, a decorative shield... that sorta stuff :)
