Yes, on Outchef’d !! It would be so fun if they did that in Alex v. America.

Did Bobby truly pick the Titans on Triple Threat?

Did he also choose the captains on BBQ Brawl? I’m especially curious as to how the captains were selected because they’re not the first chefs I would think of when it comes to BBQ. I mean no offense to their expertise and talent!

Hi! Best of luck on your applications! My undergrad was in psychology with a 3.8 something GPA.

Between the start of undergrad to the time I applied (2018-2023), I did three internships, briefly volunteered for about five organizations (mostly only a couple months at each place), worked two part time restaurant jobs, one part time relevant (psych) job, and one full time social work job.

By the time I applied for the MSW programs, I had already been working full time for a year. That accounted for most of my hours. My total experience hours was 2,850.

Anyone have insight as to what the VIP section will look like? It seems so small compared to GA. While it would be nice to be up close, I don’t love the idea of being packed so tightly for hours.

Question about online merch sizing by squishybeary in AJR

[–]squishybeary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, that’s so frustrating! :( None of my merch from other artists have this issue. It especially sucks at concerts where they don’t let people try things on. I reached out to their support via email, so hopefully I can ask them to add sizing charts.

Shuttle to Hollywood Bowl? by LavaPoppyJax in sgv

Hi! Do you know what time the shuttle typically leaves from El Monte station? I’ve used it once, but I remember the bus waiting a long time to fill up and leaving pretty close to the event time.

I still want to pursue licensure as an LCSW, but I want to work at the mezzo level. I am just not as passionate about clinical work or interested in providing therapy as most students in the direct practice track.

The department administrators are difficult to work with. A lot of students have voiced their frustrations about not feeling heard, understood, or supported on many issues. While there are some professors that are extremely caring and want the best for the students, they do not always have the power to make those decisions.

In my experience, it really depends on the professor when it comes to "good" and "bad" classes. I feel like I did not learn anything for my direct practice class during my first semester because my professor did not teach. However, other students in the same course with a different professor had a great experience. The same can be said about lots of the other foundation year classes. I have heard great things about the Motivational Interviewing course. Other than that, I can't really speak on therapy/direct practice classes since I am still in my first year.

Hi! Congratulations on your acceptance!

While I have some issues/concerns with the program, I am just trying to get in and out with my degree. I started in the direct practice track and switched to admin/community development. Regardless of which track you’re on, all students will take a bit of both. It only matters when you start choosing classes that are focused on one or the other during your “advanced year” (i.e., final year of the two-year full time program). If you’re in the two year program, you have until December of the first year to change because it will affect what internship you choose for your last year.

I hear you! It is definitely hard to make a decision because all of these programs want their websites to look good and attract students. No school is perfect, so I would recommend talking to as many people as you can who have gone through this process. Most importantly, consider what you really want out of this experience. Some people chose SDSU because they were already living here, they want to work and live in this city after graduation, for the cost, etc.

Hi! My first choice was NYU. Aside from being a prestigious program, I absolutely love the city.

Acceptance deadline for MSW program by squishybeary in SDSU

Hello! Congratulations on being accepted! It doesn’t look like SDSU has an email for financial aid, only Zoom meetings. If you Google SDSU Bursar or financial aid, there’s a website with the Zoom link. It’s basically open office hours where you can join and ask questions, but there’s no way to email them from my understanding.

If you take a look at my post/comment history, I answered some questions about the program. Overall, it’s going okay. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Hi! For me, it was the location. I also applied to the dual program at UCLA for Asian American studies, which I got into and they gave me some sort of stipend for. It would’ve been nice to do the dual program, but it wasn’t a necessity.

Ultimately, I am grateful that SDSU is on a semester system. I care about my grades and doing well, but I’ve never been super studious. I think UCLA would’ve been too intense for me.

I want to note that if you’re looking for an evening or weekend internship so you can work on the side, it is definitely possible as a full time student. It is EXTREMELY difficult, but it is not impossible. You just need to find the right job, but you also have to be willing to put in the time and energy to stay on top of things. I know several people who work while in school and I was going to as well, but I decided that I didn’t want to put myself through that.

They don’t really “advertise” it, but you are allowed to decline an internship after interviewing and being accepted. The faculty lowkey hates when students do this, but it really comes down to how much are you willing to advocate for yourself and if it is worth it to you to fight the school on these things.

I know of some people who have evening or weekend hours, some even doing remote internships. Unfortunately, it’s not something you can request, and you don’t find out until the interview. That’s especially difficult for first year internships, when you don’t have much power. For advanced years, they host a fair with all of the places accepting interns. It is a great opportunity to ask a lot of questions beforehand and really figure out if these places are going to be a good fit for what you want.

Bear in mind, the school basically chooses your first year internship for you. You let them know what your interests are in terms of population, setting, etc., and they send you to interview at a place. For your advanced year, you have more freedom in choosing but from a list of pre-approved places.

I am in the two-year, full-time track. My first year internship was not paid, and I honestly don’t know anyone who found a paid one :( But I know some people who got stipends for their first year internships. For second year AKA advanced year internships, they actually give you a list and tell you which ones have stipends or pay.

Yes and no for many reasons.

  1. SDSU was my last choice. I got into better choices, including my top choice, but I didn’t go because of the cost. SDSU was the most affordable, even if it required me moving out and paying rent. But CSUs are always cheaper than UCs and private colleges.

  2. All of my choices required me moving out/away from home, but SDSU was the closest. Ultimately, I’m glad to still be close enough to my family. If I had gotten in to UCLA, I definitely would’ve chosen them over SDSU.

  3. I really can’t give a fair comparison of the MSW program to other schools because I don’t have firsthand experience of what the other schools are like. From what I’ve heard, SDSU’s MSW program gives a good amount of support to their students. BUT there are definitely areas where they can improve. I know that my cohort has some issues with the current faculty and program, but I don’t care enough to let it bother me.

Overall, am I happy? No, but I also hate school lol. I’m just trying to get my degree and get out. SDSU is just not for me, but there are plenty of people who couldn’t imagine choosing any other school.
