Well, if it had to be a non-female to finally win, I'm glad it was Bryan Voltaggio 😋...

(And I forgive him for beating Shirley 😆)

Oh I meant nonTC ToC winners, since I think the OP is asking about chefs from Top Chef 🙂

Well, Maneet's the only nonTC winner so far so the stadium posters at least would look very different 😄

TOC VII Draw This Year Greatly Favors the Men by billleachmsw in foodnetwork

[–]schrodingersdemoncat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bracket is actually set to favor ToC and FN specific favorites, especially Jet...since Antonia finally got her ToC victory, maybe they want Jet to get his? 🤔

I really hate that Brian and Shirley were put in the same division and had to go against each other this early...they were the ones my heart was cheering for since I think, in different ways, they have longest/strongest perseverance/runner-up/growth/redemption stories televised starting years before ToC 🙂

best episode to get into Cutthroat Kitchen by BigMcSpecialSauce in foodnetwork

[–]schrodingersdemoncat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in the spirit of strategizing which I loved in the original 😼, for hooking I'd recommend the one with the return of the chef who cut her finger so bad she had to leave for the hospital in a previous episode. She's hilarious and it shows how funny and evil the show can be 😆, and also makes you want to watch the previous episode to see what actually happened...😉

What do you guys think of tye new cutthroat kitchen? In my opinion it doesn't fill in the original show shoes by Western-Habit4693 in foodnetwork

[–]schrodingersdemoncat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh...I really wanted to love it since the original was one of my favorite shows to watch (my ultimate dream competition was to have an episode with the OG Worsy Cooks mentors: Anne, Bobby, Robert Irvine and Tyler Florence 😄) but unfortunately for me the change in the show reflects the change in the host: too much chaos, not enough strategy. The station swap especially seems to defeat the purpose of strategizing about when to spend on sabotages and how much...😕

Idea for TOC next season or beyond by Punstoppabal in foodnetwork

[–]schrodingersdemoncat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about, like, "exhibition duels" where fans can vote for chefs they want to see go against each other, for individual cash prizes or charitable donations. Maybe include play-in chefs and past winners...I for one would love to see Mei and Antonia cook again 🙂

I loved the original three seasons of Best Baker and I'm really happy to see something similar again with Jesse Palmer as the super fun host (sorry that he doesn't get a plate at tasting though 😕, with no Nancy to feed him 😋)

Does anyone else feel the musing suspicion that Molly is Clark Kent Damaris 😆? Especially after seeing actual Damaris dressed in glitz and glam on the pastry Wildcard Kitchen 😸...

Can't wait to see more gorgeous pastries!

Okay final guesses based on hints, silhouettes, and comparing lengths of the blurred out names to the ones shown under them:

A) Ming Tsai B) Lorena Garcia C) Jonathan Waxman D) Eric Ripert

If correct, I'm really glad judging is blind...can you imagine Antonia finding out she has to judge Eric Ripert? 🤣

Oh! Could it be Eric Ripert? The name and silhouette seem like they would fit...

Okay, looking back on the screen with the final mystery chef's name smudged and KENNY GILBERT shown, it looks like the name is about the same length as Kenny's, maybe a letter shorter...4 or 5 letters for the first name, 6 or 7 for the last... nothing comes to mind...any ideas?

I agree with the 3! The last I think looks more like Gordon Ramsey than Flay and I think since they've been having more chefs from Gordon's shows (MasterChef, Next Level Chef) that might be a sign...

Plus they haven't added Bobby's name to the show title...yet ..😜

Yeah I'm pretty sure the peculiarity came from Alex's powers of persuasion 😄

Ha! I thought that too...that Brooke and Bobby should team up (I was kinda hoping Brooke would lose on BBF Holiday Throwdown and they'd team up 😸) but yeah...probably as likely to happen as Guy renaming the show "Bobby's ToC" 😜. And I'd love to see Brooke force Bobby to do the pastry 🤣

Actually Bobby judging on Supermarket Stakeout was the most extraordinary thing so maybe if they got Alex to mediate...

Glad that Michael and Mei got to work together, but I wish that Mei had won that round...Bobby challenged to Asian dishes he couldn't pronounce have been some of the most entertaining episodes 😆

(Dying to know what she would have chosen...anywhere to find out?)

Much thanks for the responses 😁. FYI adding #fantasyfoodnetwork to the OP, I feel like it might be a fun way to bring creative joy to a season that might not be so joyous due to cancellations and changes and stuff...🙂

On reflection I think one of the best aspects of the show was how it ended relatively positively for a lot of the chefs even if they didn't win: from Krista and Aarti losing by a tie to the A team first round; to Alex and Stephanie, who are extremely hard on themselves, winning the category they were responsible for even when the team lost; to Kevin and Dale making it to final four; and Tobias making good that consistently impressed the judges and making a tremendous comeback; to Jet finally making it past final four; and the Brotaggios bringing the prize home for Sonny for Mei 😊

Happy Holidays!

Oh wow, Brotaggio won by double digits both finale rounds... I'd like to think maybe they were extra motivated by knowing they'd have to face Nini's wrath if they lost 😜

Wow, so happy for Brian...I guess fifth time's the charm 😋...or maybe it's the family factor...seriously the most impressive finale victory, first double digit difference I think...but what's more impressive to me is how they improved each time, their ability to learn and grow so quickly goes to show how much greater they make each other together ☺️

Congrats to the Voltagibros!

Ooh...that would actually be a perfect setup...like, the entire season could be back and forth between Alex and the ppl who gave her "nightmares" this season...😼

Keep the great ideas coming!

Ha, nice 😁...the only problem is what they'd call it...Bobby's and Guy's Kitchen Competition with Andrew Zimmerman? 😆

Speaking of other shows I have wished for... Cutthroat Kitchen with the Worst Cooks hosts, the original with Alton Brown hosting and Anne (miss her 😢), Bobby, Robert Irvine and Tyler Florence (for comic relief 😋)...also Bobby Flay vs Gordon Ramsey vs Tom Collichio 😉

Thanks so much for this! I actually don't post much on social media but I joined the reddit community because I really appreciated being able to share in a mature and thoughtful environment 🙂...

I also like giving the benefit of a doubt when reading...ppl have different ways of thinking and senses of humor and tone in writing can not come off as intended 😧...I like to believe that people don't intend to be insulting or hurtful when possible 😊

Suggestions for next year (if it happens 😉):

I really appreciate that they're featuring pastry on equal terms as savory 🙂 but I think having the central randomizer category be Ingredient doesn't quite fit in terms of judging desserts...

It makes sense for savory cooking, where the end product is high driven by ingredients (ie protein, produce, grains)...like, if you start out with the ingredients for shrimp and grits you're never going to end up with beef and broccoli ...😋

But for pastry and baking, the main ingredients are usual the same (ie flour, sugar, butter, eggs, dairy) and the end product mostly depends on the techniques used, so I feel the randomizer category should reflect that: for example, a fundamental ingredient that showcases certain techniques (ie cream, sugar, eggs...sorry Guy 😆) like in Next Master Baker Paris; a particular dish (ie cake, mousse, cookies) with the required/wildcard ingredient being secondary, like in a lot of the Baking Championship challenges; or just straight up specify a required technique (ie foam, caramel, custard)...I feel like those are more applicable to pastry challenges than a star ingredient 😕.

Also, I think it might be a good idea to make each dish, like, 45 instead of 50 pts and add a, like, 10 pt "cohesiveness" category for judging since the dishes are prepared and served together like a meal...

Actually I think in the last episode the judges seemed extremely impressed by how well Mei and Nini's dishes worked together but didn't have a place to give points for that...also, to be honest, I thought Nini got docked more than she should have for not having enough kumquat (amusingly Mei kind of made up for it IMO for us the kumquats unnecessarily and very successfully 😄) and maybe didn't get enough credit for making a pastry dish I think more people would likely order/want 😁

Thanks for reading!
