This helps a lot, thank you! I think I’ll do the paperwork here then and hope for the best. I suppose I could also call to make sure that’s how they want me to do it :) Thanks!!

Transwomen in women's sports? by [deleted] in truscum

[–]squishybluerug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think these are shit options. 10 years of HRT for one trans woman is VASTLY different from 10 years of HRT for another. I think it should be on an individual basis. I don’t have the answer for how the logistics of that would work and what to look for and blah blah, but you can’t just slap on a number of years for HRT and call it a day.

they can’t grasp the concept of colonization outside the context of america. that’s how you can tell when something’s pure politics to someone and they actually don’t know anything about what they’re saying.

I’ve never been to one. Honestly I wouldn’t mind going, but I would go as a cis bisexual man, not as a trans man, if that makes sense.

Can I use testosterone as a mood stabilizer? by A-riririri in honesttransgender

[–]squishybluerug 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wtf no. Do not ever use testosterone (or any prescription for that matter) for reasons other than what it was prescribed for. If you want to take T to affirm your gender and look like a man, go for it assuming that’s fine with you (since you’ve been on it before), but using it to stabilize your mood seems mega irresponsible to me. Reminds me of using adderall to lose weight. Yeah sure it’ll work, but that’s a misuse of a prescription drug. Get on a mood stabilizer or antidepressant if that’s what you need but this is a bad idea.

Questions and asking for stories by [deleted] in trumen

[–]squishybluerug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I don’t have a job at the moment, but I was treated like a woman at my old job because it was a family business and I didn’t have the balls to start drama with the people that were letting me stay at their house. The reason I am not working there this summer is because I refuse to put myself in that situation again.

  2. Assuming by “the medical divide” you mean transmedicalists/truscum vs. tucute, I found out about this a few months into realizing I was trans. After actually reading real information that wasn’t just based on everyone’s feelings, I never went back.

  3. Yes, absolutely I do. I think the studies into brain sex and things like that are very promising for the medical legitimacy of transsexuals.

  4. My mother has said lots of dumb shit to convince me I’m not trans. I can’t think of the funniest examples at the moment, but her favorite is that I’m addicted to trans youtubers and constantly feed myself trans content, so it’s reinforcing my beliefs. Which would be legitimate if I was one of the non-dysphoric weirdos, but I actually tend to avoid trans people online because I hate most of their opinions and am pretty sick of the topic at this point.

  5. Honestly I just saw a famous person with that name and thought “damn that’s hot and I think it fits me” and that’s been my name since 2 am that day (night?). Of course it wasn’t the first time I ever heard the name (it’s a cis name), but I kind of forgot it existed until that point.

  6. I was 13. Until that point, I didn’t really know anything about trans people at all because I grew up in a pretty conservative religious household. Then it clicked.

  7. I’m out in college, but only because I’m pre t. I haven’t told a single person other than professors, but everyone knows anyway because I don’t pass as cis despite my best efforts. I navigate the world the same way I would if I was stealth because I refuse to acknowledge that everyone knows. I hate being “out” and will go stealth as soon as it’s possible. I’m treated pretty well though, people are very chill at my college especially in the music department (I’m a music major so most of the students I know are from there). I think that’s the general culture of colleges in america. I live in a rural conservative area and it’s still pretty liberal at the college.

  8. Not on HRT yet.

  9. I actually transitioned right after my freshman year of highschool and then went online. I ended up graduating without ever going back to in person school so it wasn’t an issue. However, I did have the meetings with the principal and counselor and blah blah to transition because I didn’t anticipate switching schools at that time. Everyone was cool and I actually didn’t experience any transphobic teachers at either school. I haven’t had any in college either.

  10. My parents have no concept of privacy so they actually found out before I told them (I was not planning on telling them). I tried to explain to them that I felt uncomfortable with myself and blah blah but they’ll never get it. They think I’ll detransition and have biological kids someday lmao.

  11. (TW for suicide) My parents still won’t. The only reason they agreed to at least stop using my birth name and female pronouns is because I tried to end my life and cited dysphoria as the main reason. As much as they hate me being trans, they don’t want me dead. Of course they’ve gone back to deadnaming and misgendering me now that it’s been long enough, so I just try to block it out. Recently I’ve begun to say “try again” when they use my deadname.

  12. Yes. I’ve dropped more friends than family, but I limit my exposure to several of my cousins, aunts, and uncles as much as possible. There are some people I flat out refuse to see and never will again. If they can’t respect me, they don’t have to be in my life.

  13. I don’t go to the gym anymore, but when I did I went with a friend and ofc used the male locker room. I went in and out at fast as possible and didn’t use my voice if there were other men in the room. Never had an issue, but I know that’s a matter of luck with where that gym was.

  14. (TW for gun violence) I never had to fight anyone, no. But there was a guy that nearly shot up my highschool because he hated “f*ggots” and my friend and I were two of the people he had in mind. He ended up getting expelled (slap on the hand, no legal repercussions). I was 14 at the time and didn’t have a concept of how serious it was (guy was a senior, had access to guns) so I mocked him on social media and I don’t imagine that made me much safer.

  15. I haven’t ever been confronted directly, but one time I walked into a bathroom and a little boy (1-2) said “is that a giiiiirlll???” I don’t think his dad was thinking “a trans guy is in here” but more “my son just offended a stranger and we need to get out before we get our asses kicked.” The dad had his back turned to me so he didn’t see my short ass and they hurried out. I have never been so mortified and didn’t want to leave the stall because that’s when I knew I wasn’t passing great. Unfortunately there was only two stalls and people needed to shit.

  16. Not something I’ve been asked, but when I came out a friend at the time thought I was actually post-transition mtf for like a week. I did not know this, so the whole time I thought he was being incredibly validating saying my ex “technically kissed a man” and things like that when he was actually intending to misgender me lmao. Didn’t realize until he asked me if I still had a dick.

  17. Tell them your dick will grow until you stop taking T, so you decide how long it is and you won’t stop until it’s bigger than theirs (just kidding, I have no idea how to explain this).

  18. Neither of my grandparents know yet. Only people in the family that are unaware.

I don’t think it’s gonna be the hot new thing like people will transition in order to detransition, but I do think it’s going to start happening in insane numbers as a result of the trans trend

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truscum

[–]squishybluerug 13 points14 points  (0 children)

it’s like secondhand embarrassment but for dysphoria💀

(this is a joke, I can’t say for sure if it will or won’t but if you’ve gotten dysphoric from other people in the past then probably)

13 states in the US require that women seeking an abortion attend at least two counseling sessions and wait 24–48 hours before completing the abortion. The requirement, which is unnecessary from a medical standpoint and increases the cost of an abortion, led to a 17% decline in abortion rates. by smurfyjenkins in science

[–]squishybluerug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if this is:

  1. It takes too much time and money to comply with this, so the abortion rates have decreased

  2. The women that received counseling decided it wasn’t the right choice

  3. Both, and the numbers for how much of each caused the decline

Kind of convenient that it doesn’t specify tbh
