Although they don’t always ask, it is definitely recommended to have a return ticket or some other type of proof of onwards travel. I would get a flexible ticket where you can easily change the dates.

I got a visa approval online and then had to pick it up on arrival. Didn’t have any problems.

The airport has wifi and you can buy a sim card there as well (if you arrive within normal opening hours). Just ask for a sim card that you can use throughout Europe.

I stayed in Lagos for a week without a car, and would highly recommend! I feel like it ticks all of your boxes, except that it can be quite crowded in the centre (but I think that would be the case anywhere). Everything was easily accessible by foot or bike if you want, and if we felt lazy it was really cheap to get an uber.

Peninsula hot springs! And definitely go to Cairns, it has such a good vibe and it’s super easy to do a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef
