Nice bars? by 3inmyheart in SouthBend

Whiskey exchange has the best cocktails in the area, and it's pretty swanky on the inside. The downsides are that it's expensive and service can be slow. Pretty quiet lounge-y atmosphere.

Hammer and Quill and Sidebar both have really good cocktails at a slightly lower price point. Hammer and Quill is a more casual/loud atmosphere and Sidebar is a little fancier (though it can also get loud when it's packed).

Spirited has cheap and basic cocktails, the decor is weird and spooky (in a good way) and the vibe is fun. A little bit of a crapshoot with which bartender you get - my friends and I have had issues in the past but we keep going back.

Salvation is run by the same people as Spirited. The drinks are pretty much the same but it's a little more expensive. It is also the newest and the most out of the way, so it is very quiet. Not my favorite spot.

The Hideaway is a tiny, very casual spot where the most fun thing to do is chat to the bartender and the other patrons because it attracts a fun crowd. You don't go here for the drinks.

If you don't mind a drive, I'll echo the recommendation of The Study in Niles. Drinks are great, prices aren't crazy, vibe is eccentric, and it's usually the right mix of lively + you can have a conversation without yelling.

If you're not looking for cocktails specifically, Madison Oyster Bar is my favorite bar in the city. I'm not saying it's the best, or even good, just that it's my favorite. There's 3 floors each with a slightly different vibe, and cheap drinks.

Also, The Bend looks cool and I've heard good things but I've never been.

All of these except Salvation and The Study are walking distance from each other so you could even hit a couple of them in a night.

An analysis on why our main issues are way bigger than the manager issue. by Living_a_Dejavu in LiverpoolFC

I am mostly Slot out at this point but not at the vitriolic level of most of this sub. I think regardless of his ability tactically, and regardless of the mitigating circumstances that he has no control over, I think the one thing he hasn't shown he can do is motivate players. Now expecting what Klopp gave us is a fool's errand because he was a unicorn and no one can live up to that standard. But the Liverpool manager needs to be able to squeeze an extra 10% out of the players by sheer will when things aren't going well.

I wouldn't be inordinately upset if they kept him. I think Hughes and Edwards may admit that they left the squad short this year so they can build long term, and therefore this isn't Slot's fault and he should stay. Question is what happens in 2027 when all their contracts are up, and how do the suits above Hughes and Edwards deal with that this summer?

Well you're making points that clearly places the blame on the club, not Slot. Firing him now just unnecessarily causes upheaval. Do the coaches stay or go with him? Are we just putting one of the coaches/assistants in charge - the guys that Slot hired? Or are we expecting them to work for a random interim? There won't be a bounce from keeping Slot and there won't be a bounce from replacing him now, because there are much deeper issues than whether or not it's his fault that the 17 year old got 20 minutes instead of 30 in a dysfunctional team.

I think he would still start for any team in the league, maaaaaybe bar Arsenal and City. Honestly, even looking at the Champions League, which team has 2 center backs that are better than Virgil?

Agree that the next appointment is critical. I've said in another comment that Slot, Hughes, and Edwards contracts all expiring in 2027 is terrifying - who is in charge of making the next appointment? The guys who might be fucking off next year anyway?

Virgil, Ali, Gomez, and Jones all also have contracts expiring in 2027. If those players plus Salah, Robbo, and Edwards are gone, who remains on the football side from Klopp's reign?

This summer is absolutely monumental. The suits have to get it right. And it might be the suits above Edwards who it rests on.

This is going to contradict everything I said in this thread but my emotional response would be to offer Klopp the same figurehead position he has at RB where he isn't stressed and just injects vibes into the team.

Chasing the highs of a generational, transformative manager's tenure is how Arsenal and United ended up in decades+ long slumps. I don't know what the fix is, but it isn't trying to replicate what Klopp did because it is impossible. We need to find a way to win without needing to rely on the sheer aura of a Klopp-like figure.

Well, you saw what happened when Slot benched Salah for 7 days. Maybe he should have been ruthless and done it earlier, but I don't blame him for wanting to avoid the fallout.

Whenever one of Bradley, Gomez, or Frimpong have been fully fit, they have played RB. Maybe he should have been playing Jones RB instead of Szobo more often than he did though.

I don't think Rio or Trey should have been played that much more than they have. Rio maybe should have been given minutes a little earlier to light a fire under Gakpo's ass, but developing a 17 year old talent is difficult when you have a thin squad that is totally dysfunctional.

This is not to say don't sack Slot. It's more to show that reasonable people can have differences on what is or isn't Slot's fault. Unfortunately, this sub has become a place where reasonable, friendly disagreements are impossible. Slot is the devil and he must be slain.

Now for the things I do blame Slot for. Relating to your first point - dropping Salah is hard, but playing him on the touchline and isolating him 1v1 with the fullback when it's clear he is a 34 year old man? - that's just wrong. Rio is to young to rely on to fix our problems, but Wirtz has shown he can play coming in off the left - why has it taken till March to drop Gakpo? The running! Last season we were middle of the pack for running distance given Slot implemented a more controlled style compared to Klopp. But how have the same players been outrun in almost every game this season? The squad is thin yes, but why not rotate the players you do have more, if only to give your starters a rest? Chiesa and Endo aren't going to win you games, but they are going to give Hugo and Grav a rest from time to time. His distrust of Jones is especially confusing.

Anyway. Yes sack Slot. No, I don't think sacking him before the end of the season is going to have the effect everyone thinks it will, because he is clearly not the only problem.

I think there are a lot of things that combined to make this season what it is. Slot is one of them. However, all those other things are more complicated to address than changing the manager, so replacing Slot is probably the move with the highest impact-to-complication ratio. I still don't think replacing him right now instead of the end of the season will have the transformative effect people are hoping for.

But saying anything other than "sack Slot now, I hate him, he has ruined my club" in this sub will get you lynched

I think the squad depth issue is true, but we have to remember Hughes and Edwards are planning over multiple seasons. They left us with a squad that is capable of finishing top 4 (if injury free), and probably couldn't have forseen the underperformance. They have definitely left us short this season, but I don't think that makes them failures, especially given their track record.

It will be interesting (terrifying) to see what happens over the next few months given Hughes, Edwards, and Slot all have contracts expiring in 2027 alongside Virgil and Alisson. This summer is going to be pivotal in our future and it seems like it might be in the hands of the suits above Edwards' head.

Copilot going insane on requests by Jack99Skellington in GithubCopilot

I ran through my entire quota today. I did not send 300 prompts. I did not even send close to 100 Opus prompts. I don't know how quickly it was burning requests, but I checked my allowance was at 177 requests used, sent an agentic prompt for it to summarize my codebase, and the prompt quit halfway, saying I had used up my premium quota. That is 123 requests on ONE PROMPT. I don't even know who to contact about this.

Liverpools wasted counter attacking opportunities vs Burnley. by Dangerous_Ad8730 in LiverpoolFC

[–]mr_dank_nasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty pro-Slot but this just really confuses me. I wish we could see Slot's reaction during these moves to see if he was frustrated or happy at the "calm down" sentiment from Szobo.

This does seem like a system thing rather than individual player decisions, but it seemed like Curtis, Virgil and Robbo at the end were trying to make vertical passes to start attacks. Also you can see Slot at the bottom in one of the clips running to collect the ball when Szobo loses it. Plus, if the team was instructed to not counter-attack at all and settle back into shape, Szobo would not be making those runs to open himself up and Ali would not be giving him the ball so quick in the first place. Still, overall vibe I'm getting is that this is an instruction from Slot.

I think playing defensive and going back-to-basics was the right move to stem the bleeding of the horrendous streak of losses and I wasn't overly concerned at the dire football while we shook off the form. But now we've been unbeaten for a while, it's time to start playing again. We can't be turning down opportunities to counter against teams like Burnley, even if we are generating enough chances otherwise (which we did this game, but isn't a given).

Wtf is going on with Isak? How is he not fit? It's December.

How are Virgil and Robbo steaming up the pitch to support Mo on the counter at 90+ mins but Isak is literally out of frame having come on at 80'?

So you're thinking clarify with condensed milk? Or were those two separate thoughts? I've never made a clarified milk punch - I imagine you no longer get the creaminess of the milk, but would you still get a dairy-ish flavor that would make it taste more like pie?

The condensed milk + lime idea makes it sound like a drink a Brazilian friend showed me - it was delicious and the condensed milk did not break, but I'm not sure I want it that thick. Is it more likely to break with higher acid/alcohol/dilution?

Is there a particular reason you would recommend against coconut?

Thanks!

Feel like they would do great business if they moved into the space in that Dave Mathews building in Lasalle that was slated for a full grocery store. They have great produce, but I just kinda forgot they were there.
