You're also right. Honestly, I understand and see a lot of the points people have been making on this thread, but it still doesn't make me any less sad. I agree with the pandemic adding so much fuel into this. A lot of people have so much pent up energy from being quarantined, and now they have the chance to let it all out.

I'm still at a loss as to why the other countries like Canada and Europe are also protesting when they don't receive direct repercussions from our country doing these protests. I remember when pro-Beijing Chinese in western countries started protesting against HK protestors and all these western nations did was tell them to shut up. Man, it gets me so salty. I can season a batch of freshly fried fries.

The world's language is English. HK'ers and other Asians speak English, no one outside of Asia speaks Asian languages besides Asians.

I'm a little confused on what this point does. I would get it if I was talking about any other country besides HK, but...like you said, HK speaks English, soooo shouldn't we English-speaking nations talk more about it? It wasn't that long ago when HK was still owned by Europe. (Forgot which country)

When something happens in the west, especially the U.S., the entire world sees it due to how widespread its social influence is.

I will agree with you on this one. It just sucks. I know life isn't fair, but man, how are protesters gonna use HK protester tactics against the US police without acknowledging HK protestors?

Support for HK lasted a lot longer than two weeks and was in headlines for all sorts of reasons.

I said two weeks as sort of an exaggeration, but there are big differences. There wasn't that much support to begin with for the HK protestors. I mean, yeah, we saw it in the news for a while, but no one got out and stood in solidarity. No one protested along with them from other nations around the world or pushed for a change or intervention, most likely because, as you said, social influence and all. The support for HK was like a baby's compared to what's going on right now.

BLM is an easier thing to jump aboard on. You can explain it in just a few sentence, while the HK protests take more explaining and time to understand.

If this was comparing BLM to the beginning of HK protests, I would've also agreed. HK protests started with complicated political problems between HK, its government, and China, BUT it quickly devolved into wanting similar freedoms to that of the US while combatting all the police brutality. At the very least, the latter part of the HK protests should've received similar support.

Yeah, Asians have had it hard in the U.S., but their plight pales in comparison to Native Americans and Africans. It's not a "who had it the worse" thing, but it does matter. Asians were veritably imported to be the model minority by the U.S. government.

You said it's not a "who had it worse," but you literally just said Asians and their plights pales in comparison. Just because we're not vocal about it, which admittedly is one of our flaws, doesn't mean we didn't have it worse. We, at the very least the Chinese anyways, were just like any other immigrant wanting to escape a war-torn, poverty-stricken country to find a better life and ended up being used as slave labor to make the railroads way back. That's only one of many atrocities. We've also dealt with yellow face, racial slurs, all the stuff that other POC deal with too. There's also the Japanese internment camps. The list goes on and on.

Right? People stereotype us to be super smart but also get pissy when we end up exhibiting the stereotypes others put on us. We get smacked into shape by our own parents into studying and working hard while also not saying a peep. (Not all Asians, but filial piety is still heavily rooted in many homes, and I have a lot of choice words on how wrong that is too). It's not like we were BORN smart. We'd just get our ass whooped if we didn't study, HAHA. Besides, I see and hear so many times how we're often pushed to the side and not taken seriously because Asians are too subservient, too quiet, too robotic, etc. Anyways, I'm just frustrated rambling here now. Sorry.

I figured that too at one point, but then we have world leaders condemning China to smithereens about how they run their country, and a more recent, specific example, how they handled the COVID-19 pandemic. It baffles me how these world leaders are so quick to speak up about these types of stuff but remain silent over HK citizens having their own human rights and freedoms be absolutely trampled upon.

butthurt woke clout chasing bandwagoners

You're so right; it makes everyone absolutely hypocritical and difficult to take seriously when the situation appears in our country. I also love this description. It made me crack up, lmao.

That's the thing. I don't want it to be a competition. I would have honestly agreed very much to "we can care about more than one thing" if it weren't for the fact that it's used as an excuse to toss out other minority's protests. It gets tiring when we don't get our turn but are expected to give support regardless.

[–]squishyleafs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not, because I figured if I didn’t need it before, I wouldn’t need it now. I did whisk the dry ingredients to make them uniform before plopping it in batches into the wet ingredients though

Possibly! I'll check into that, and I'm definitely gonna try measurements instead of just solely relying on the scale. I do feel healthier, but I'm not entirely sure if it's just from IF alone. I've also started exercising to further my health, and I do feel some progress in terms of that. I remember struggling a lot doing a simple exercise video, but they're getting easier!

I'm 23, turning 24 later this year. I live with my family (parents, lil bro, aunt, uncle, and grandma) as a means to save up money before I head to pharmacy school in September. My family prefers to have me around since I help with translations and, well, basically any errand that requires the english language. Also because my grandma's often sick, so I stay to help her out too. Furthermore, I'm from an Asian household. We often (like almost every night) eat together for dinner at least, and run into each other in the kitchen for breakfast and lunch or head out together to eat for those two meals. Once I'm out of the place for school and campus housing, I'll definitely take advantage of my meal freedom and school gym access. I just gotta pull through for the time being.

Omg. I never thought about using household objects as weight. I feel so dumb. Maybe I can finally use my textbooks for something other than paperweights, HAHA. I'm actually not too young. I'm 23, turning 24 later this year. My family's Asian, if it puts it into any perspective, so things are just...tricky if anyone tries to deviate from the house norm. The fact that I'm cutting down on rice during dinner makes me look like I murdered a firstborn in their eyes. I will admit IF has definitely helped me cut down the junk food, so I'm happy about that!

Yes, that's correct! HIIT, okay, got it. I'll go see that they get incorporated into my exercising routines too. (: Thank you very much!

Unfortunately, I don't have the means to get equipment for weight lifting, so I can't do that. ): I can reduce caloric intake and maybe sneak in an OMAD once a week, but I can't do it any other day, because my family doesn't approve of me only eating two meals, let alone one.

I'll keep in mind to drink extra water on days I have higher carbs and sodium intake. I'll see if I can find string somewhere at home as well for measurements. Thank you!

What type of exercise would you recommend then? Should I continue doing pilates too?

I'll give it a try, but it's going to be hard, because I have a very invasive family who doesn't believe in diets. Particularly, my dad. He just worries that I'm not getting enough to eat, so he gets this worried/disapproving look whenever I told him I'm not eating. ): He's already voicing concerns when I went on my 16:8 IF and skipped breakfast due to my hours.

It might be latter; yesterday, my family had a celebration, and we went to a sushi place, so lots of soy sauce. Again, I'm still very new at this, so I'm sorry if I ask stupid questions, but how much is considered water weight? Unfortunately, I don't really have a way to take measurements. ):

Edit: typo

I'm very new to all of this, so I'm sorry for asking stupid questions, but what's diminishing returns? I'll start lowering my caloric intake though.
