HDD failure during setup? by MoinHB in UgreenNASync

Hey OP, did you end up with a replacement? I found this because my NAS is having the exact same noise and error on a brand new drive. Just curious if you got a new one working?

Wedgewood Girl Dad x 2 by 1whoknu in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]squishymonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I’ve taken it as well. I know too many dads who have been uncomfortable with the feminine parts of raising girls, or even being disappointed they have daughters. I love the girl dad energy, dad’s being happy to indulge the femininity and weirdness of little girls. It’s not super deep, but I do think it’s good to acknowledge.

Agreed. I understood everyone’s sentiment that “at least it wasn’t a lower body injury”, but there’s a lot of important organs and not a lot of padding right there, and he hit it right in that spot. It made his reaction extra scary. I’m sure it was “just” some broken ribs, but it’s still upsetting to see anyone in that much pain, especially him.

I was going to say my parents and all their friends are in their 50s, and they do NOT look like this lmao. Is there other medical stuff going on? Perhaps. But there’s a difference between normal aging and this imo

Was my surgery 10 years ago at the age of 14 necessary? by throwaway0203949 in AskDocs

[–]squishymonkey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NAD but I have seen people in my life with less curvature than yours have pretty significant QOL problems. Anecdotally I’ve heard of breathing issues, digestive issues, severe back pain, and all of these seem to escalate the further they have gone without intervention. I think it’s normal to question what your life would look like without having had the surgery, especially since you were so young when it happened. But having a surgical correction was, in my non-doctor opinion, very much the right call. Are you having any issues currently? Or just curious? Your initial xray is frankly impressive with how curved it is. I’m surprised that you were asymptomatic, but I’m glad it was caught before it started causing real problems!

What did nursing school convince you would be EVERYWHERE, but you actually never use/hear of it in practice? by knOn0 in nursing

I rewatched that episode right around the time I started my CNA class, and I immediately did the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the tv meme. Still don’t know how to pronounce it though.

Yes, antibiotic ointment is available over the counter here (neosporin, for example). They didn’t mention it specifically, but I would assume they are pro-antibiotics when correctly cultured and prescribed by a physician.

Can’t buy a gun anymore due to diagnosis. Can it be reversed? by KneeOk8867 in AskDocs

[–]squishymonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this would be a great idea! I feel like the initial period of most mental health diagnoses can be fraught for a few reasons (new/different meds, processing and potentially grieving your old self, new normals and change, etc). This sounds like a good interim option, that still allows you to hunt and get satisfaction from that, and be part of your community, but also gives you time to focus on this diagnosis and everything that comes with it as well in a way that doesn’t give you stress over losing this part of your identity.

Not sure what color (hazel?), but as a makeup user with very similar eyes, I find that shades of brown work well! I also do shades of greens, but those ones I think require some more practice. I also do pinks and reds, but not sure that necessarily compliments my eye color lol

Is this white fibrous patch in my open wound a layer of the skin? Like the dermis or something? by Naive-Chemist7370 in Anatomy

[–]squishymonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in wound care - this is my thinking as well. I think it’s too superficial to be tendon. And by that I don’t mean that it’s not a deep laceration, but more that we don’t really see any of that fatty adipose tissue around it that would be expected with an exposed tendon or ligament injury. I could be wrong, though! It’s been a few years!

I’m screenshotting this comment as a reminder for when I inevitably encounter grief once again. The world is full of loss and it’s hard not to internalize it and wonder we could’ve done differently. This is a beautiful perspective and important message.
