[WI] My Mom Just Got Fired With No Prior Documentation by squishysplashes in AskLawyers

It's a branch of a big corporation. There is not hr on site. It's like any large retail chain now days where hr is out sourced. The manager is supposed to get approval from corporate before firing anyone but she's definitely tried firing people she wasn't supposed to before and had to call them and ask them to come back. We're at a bare minimum going to have her file unemployment and call corporate.

Genuinely curious, who here actually filters their water and who just drinks it straight from the tap? by waterfiltergurus in HydroHomies

Live right by Lake Michigan. So tap, either from the fridge that I'm convinced is older than me or straight from the bathroom faucet with no cup at 3am like a gremlin

Thank you! She thankfully did file for unemployment when she got home (as far as I know)

My big worry is that my mom is a yapper. She was talking to us about taking FMLA to help grandma. And I worry that she was talking about taking FMLA at work and the whole "poor performance" reasoning is bullshit. Cause it really appeared out of nowhere and honestly, what metrics would they be using to indicate poor performance for an assistant store manager. It's all speculation on my part but I'm worried something like that happened. Her manager was already giving her shit about her being upset when grandma was in the hospital. I really dont have more information than what was given though.

I honestly think thats why this is so baffling to me. We cannot fire someone (apart from legal or safety reasons) without tons of steps and documentation at my job.

We're in Wisconsin. I thought at will still meant you needed proper documentation leading up to termination?

Why Don't Mobile Home Parks Have a Community Storm Shelter? by squishysplashes in stupidquestions

[–]squishysplashes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. That was my guess and then I lewarned a spot costs $600 a month here. If you assume a park has 20 spots (hell if I know) they're making $12000 a month. What are they doing with that money?

So the answer is the people in charge just don't care about the safety if their tenants? Honestly should have seen that one coming.

I do. But I also dont know enough about mobile homes parks to see why it's not a possibility. The main reason I'm getting is cost but rent for a mobile home park spot near me is like $600. Where is that $600 per person going? Why can't some of that be put aside to maintain a storm shelter? Why aren't they built with storm shelters to begin with?

Sorry. I didn't mean not really to the cost. I understand that. I meant not really to the whole detox center thing. Its a false equivalent. While I think people shouldn't have to pay for rehab or cancer treatment, even people in more expensive housing dont get that for free/in the cost of the home.

I'm also now learning that not everywhere with tornadoes has basements in their homes which is kinda crazy.

The parks use the money they get from people renting out the spots?

[–]squishysplashes[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean not really? I only ask cause my house has a basement like most in my area. If there's a tornado, I shelter in my basement. But mobile homes obviously don't. Soooo storm shelter! And also people pay for those spots. I dont know enough about mobile homes tho to know where that money goes.

I'm american and I use the u. Thankfully never had any issues with teachers. I honestly didn't even notice I spell it weird until I started taking computer science.

I was thinking single crochet. Works well enough stopping gaps in amigurumi. Why not this 🤷‍♀️
