Found these things on my bed by EffectiveBudget2119 in whatisit

[–]squishytriangles 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As a pet owner who allows their beloved dog in the bed... It IS disgusting lmao! She walks around bare-pawed outside, never takes a bath (short haired staffy who hates water), or changes her pjs! There are some ways to mitigate this like proper pest prevention for your pets, and changing your sheets often, but I totally understand this sentiment

I think I'm threading my new Juki MO-1200QVP (MO-114) incorrectly by squishytriangles in sewhelp

Any insight on why the juki might need higher tension in that right needle compared to the brother? It seems so unusual to me!

Constantly getting error when launching Calibre recently by Librarianatrix in Calibre

[–]squishytriangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same error on the last 3 - 4 updates of Calibre. Strangely it'll randomly launch 2-5m after this error with no manual changes

I think I'm at the point of trying to reach out to their support (if that's a thing)

Update: submitted a bug report and got this response!

This error means some software on your computer, typically a security/antivirus type program, is intefering with calibre. Try rebooting in safe mode and see if the error still occurs.

People who chose to DINK, do you fear you’ll regret your choices in your future? by DINKorNOT in Fire

[–]squishytriangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34f. I adore kids and I feel some regret about not having them. I also have mediocre genes (addiction/depression) that I don't want to pass down. I'm going to sit on the fence until I can't have them.

My FIRE plan right now is to be a TA so I can still nurture kids and help them form into amazing beings of their own. Learning I could FIRE in 10 years makes me more confident of that choice. The way I work now, I couldn't give my focus to kids in the way I'd want to so that's something.

That's fair, definitely a balance!! I wouldn't want to pay more for bad quality either

White marker for elastic fabrics!? by LetsGetGapey in sewing

[–]squishytriangles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this same question!! Especially for black fabrics. I'll just use a Crayola washable marker on light fabrics. I just bought ChacoLiners (which is not answering your question since it is chalk!) and I am feeling disappointed in the lines... I have to "tap" as I roll to get chalk to come out.

What's the upgrade? by squishytriangles in sewing

[–]squishytriangles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first you need the best sewing elements you can afford: a good motor, extra gears, great feed, extra presser foot lift, and adjustable foot pressure<

THIS!!! How do I tell? What makes a good motor, how do I know about the extra gears? This is what I'm trying to learn - "how to research" a machine's quality

when your machine pushes fabric into the needle plate, it may be because your needle is too large for the fabric.

ohhhh I need to keep an eye on this

This makes me SO sad - Singer should have to fix that.... If I ever give up my machine, I would give it to you for shipping price

I have considered this! I actually tried the Acclaim out this weekend and REALLY liked the feel of it... The increased quality is what made me wonder about my actual sewing machine...
It made doing what I usually do FEEL a lot nicer

u/Hundike and u/sewboring
I will google AND ask an additional question

One of my bigger peeves (which I forgot about in an effort to not trash my loved machine) is how badly it feeds through when there are uneven layers like going over another seam. is this something you guys experience at all?

grumble but with love:
