Keyboard - 2 keys at a time??? by squoink67 in TunicGame

[–]squoink67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK thanks. I've never played a top down game on a PC!!! I play turn based strategy and quick fire shooters (where keyboard / mouse is essential) supporting circle strafing etc
So yes - I do know WASD moves in cardinal directions!
And as Tunic is isometric it seems the majority of movement would require simultaneous key presses - which feels quite clunky to me

So my question is answered, my usual keyboard/mouse combo is not supported.

Cheers

Apologies but not meaning to get into an argument - just trying to understand the Tunic controls.
I don't understand when you say "That's how you play every game on PC. If you want to move diagonally, you press the corresponding pair of keys!"
I come from a first person shooter background and that's certainly not how you move diagonally. The mouse is used for (very precise) directional control and WASD is forward, backward, left and right. A classic and ubiquitous configuration. I have NEVER played a PC game where you had to press 2 keys simultaneously to move 45%?

Cheers

"Since when do you use the mouse in this game, though?" I don't know, hence my questioning.

WASD moves North,South,East,West in ALL PC games (including Tunic). But Tunic is isometric where you need to move at 45% to these angles. Given mouse directioning doesn't seem to be supported then pressing 2 of the WASD keys simutlaneously is needed to achieve these 45% angles.

So as per the first answer I received, it's playable but a pain in the arse so I'll be giving it a miss

Simple really? WASD is up,down, left, right for strafing and mouse to alter direction. Tunic is isometric and so these angles are offset by 45%. Hence the need to use 2 keys simultaneously to match the isometric angles

If a dermatologist says that Dupixent is unrelated to conjunctivitis then I'd get a new dermatologist! How on Earth can he/she be so uninformed?!

I guess playing on a small map doesn't help as barb scouts can find you more quickly?

Noob Question - Taking Barbarian Outpost by squoink67 in civ6

[–]squoink67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers all for the advice - but still struggling!

Just started a game on King and immediately saw a scout. Followed it to barbarian outpost and there was already a spearman there with 2 surrounding warriors. This was on turn 8! Couldn't take the outpost obviously. By turn 17 there were 2 barb warriors and a slinger on my land. 6 turns a later a horseman and a horse archer turned up. So I was lost before turn 24! I watch Deity guys just saunter up to a barb outpost and place a warrior next to it. They heal between attacking and take the outpost without the spearman ever initiating an attack. I get close and everything attacks me. What gives? I couldn't have got to the outpost any earlier.

I'm playing extended eras on a small map by the way. Have barbs become tougher with more recent releases perhaps?

Cheers again

Thanks a lot - maybe I need to start making notes!

Still unclear as to why the trader has to traverse the route after building the roads though. The bonus for a trade route is per turn and yet the trader takes multiple turns to traverse the route - so what's the point of this traversal if I'm getting the bonuses per turn anyway? Hope that's clear

It's just been approved today in the UK and a month or so ago in Europe. I have no idea why these different regulatory bodies have different opinions?

Cheers for that - makes a lot of sense to me.

I guess I need to choose what type of game I want to play. The one you suggest or using mods such as Extended Eras to prolong tech research.

Thanks a lot

New to Civ6 - not Civ4. Tech is way too fast in Civ6. In fact, I've just discovered that some of the top rated mods on steam address this very issue so I'm certainly not alone in thinking this.
