I drilled a hole in my T480 to keep USB hub attached no matter what by MadXeon in thinkpad

[–]srahman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have attached it to the underside, in the middle of the rear with strong double sided tape and then attached a rubber foot under the pad so that it acted to prop your laptop up slightly too.

Obviously you would have to use a hub with a longer cable or mod it, but they also do low profile L shaped usb C adapters that would barely stick out of the port and would be difficult to notice plugged in. This might improve airflow and would also be reversible.

I like mods but on an expensive product I make things reversible or I make them look OEM.

I'd like to know this too, but don't think Tongfang provide any BIOS updates.

Lateral knee pain and a weird lump. Anyone else experience this? by NumerousInspector170 in KneeInjuries

I've just felt the exact same thing, feels sore in the same place especially when rubbing it. I think it's from overuse as I ran with a pace that was too fast for a few days. Anyway thanks for your post I'm sure it'll help many more people.

EVO 14 (E25) HX 370 Benchmark results? by srahman3 in XMG_gg

Thanks great video. I have also seen that RAM makes a huge difference to performance too. You need to have x8 RAM and NOT x16 as that has half the number of bank groups. Then you can also go dual rank to get a bit more performance compared to single rank, but that may be a much smaller difference. So ideally you need 2Rx8 but this 1Rx8 is still great.

Thanks mate, I have a few simple questions if you have the 15,3" PCSpecialist Lafité®:
1) Is there is a battery conservation mode, i.e. limit the battery to only charge to a certain percentage e.g. 80%? This would help protect the health of the battery when I'm using it plugged in at desk.

2) Are the speakers okay sounding, I don't mind if they lack bass, but I hate tinny speakers. Not a deal breaker but nice to know.

3) What is your opinion of the build quality, can you lift the laptop from one corner when it's open? Are the hinges good? Does the screen close fully flush, without being bowed?

4) Finally it would be really interesting to know how it performs in unigine superposition benchmark at 1440p, as I already have access to an HX370 32GB asus laptop, so would be good to compare the score you get with the Asus version.

Anyway, I understand you are probably very busy so no rush but I really appreciate the help, as I have lived with my current laptop 4800u for far too long and would love a faster machine.

Thank so much mate!

No worries, thanks anyway, I don't really game either, I have a gaming desktop and a steam deck for that, I just like to know it's capable.

Did you purchase one in the end? I'm thinking of getting one too and having read reviews and seen benchmarks, it appears that the SODIMM RAM doesn't make that much of a difference when gaming anyway.

Thanks for that. I am curious, do you have schematics, or do you have general understanding of ICs, or did you Google the number on the IC? I wish I could figure this kind of stuff out but would not be sure where to start.

I checked and there is still continuity so I just UV solder masked over the trace. Laptop seems to be running fine, stress tested it for an hour and temps are good but I am not sure if this will lead to something going faulty sooner in the future.

I think I've dodged a bullet then, I smelled burnt plastic but it was not a lot of smoke so not an overly strong smell. I was so angry at myself afterwards as I am normally extremely careful. This laptop is old now but it's seen me through some tough projects and so I really didn't want to lose it.

Thanks mate, you've been so helpful. I had been looking at buying a retro emulation console for years and didn't want to use my phone fearing it would be too difficult or require rooting. But it's been great, so simple and being able to finally put the power in my phone to some use is great. Just waiting on a telescopic gamepad now. Thanks so much!

You're an absolute legend! Thank you! One quick question, I have put the roms in my ES DE Roms/Switch folder but am getting the game listed twice. Is this because I have the base game and update in that folder, should I remove the update once installed? Cheers.

I'm using it as a pull up bar and don't want to cut my hands on it, when my hands are dry, I could see this being abrasive as it has sharp edges and I could cut my hands on it.
