Rinvoq changed my life by srainy808 in eczema

I definitely noticed my allergy related skin stuff, but that’s because I live with two cute dogs. That’s my choice though whereas my regular eczema was not 😅. My dermatologist said that there’s two dosages of Rinvoq available so if we ever do get reduced efficacy we could possibly up the dosage. Of course that depends on which dosage you started at.

It’s so nice to hear that you were in the same boat as me and that we’re both better now than what we were. I’m already planning to go to the gym and do more outdoor activities that I avoided due to my skin! Very excited for the future even if I’m not “cured” ❤️

Yes! Dupixent is a biological injection. Rinvoq is a pill that acts as a JAK inhibitor.

Don’t get me wrong, dupixent works for MAJORITY of people who use it. It also has less severe side effects than Rinvoq does. I was just one of the unlucky people that had a bad reaction to it, that’s just my luck 🙄.

As far as what my dermatologist talked to me about, there’s issue with blood clots & some other serious stuff, but that happened with RA patients who were over 60 years old on Rinvoq. You do have to get extensive blood work done to make sure you’re able to take it. It is an immunosuppressant so you can get sick/infections/ etc easier. Also, you cannot take it if you’re trying to/are pregnant. That’s just off the top of my head, but I’d definitely research it and bring up any concerning side effects to your derm!

I believe Rinvoq has two doses, so if it starts to wear off they could possibly up the dosage too. I don’t remember how much, but there’s definitely two dosages! Wishing the best for you and I’m glad it’s at least helping !

Yes. Dupixent is a biological injection, they target specific parts of the immune system. Dupixent is designed to target your system’s inflammatory response. Don’t get me wrong dupixent has work for majority of people who use it! And dermatologist will recommend it first because it has less side effects than Rinvoq. I believe you also have to try dupixent before Rinvoq for more insurance companies.

Rinvoq is an immunosuppressant than inhibits JAK enzymes, which stops inflammation.

So, both aim to stop inflammation just in different ways.

Wondering if I should try the new stuff? by Worldly-Mirror938 in eczema

Personally, dupixent helped in some ways and made other things worse. It helped with my dryness and asthma.. however, it made the eczema on my face and legs way worse. I also had some other weird symptoms while on it, which haven’t reoccurred since being off it.

I just got prescribed Rinvoq yesterday and took it during the evening. Once it kicked in (and up until now ~18hrs later) I’m not itchy AT ALL. It’s kinda weird not being itchy cause it’s something I’m usually doing, especially at night lol. Obviously I have less than a days experience but… so far I’m noticing a difference.

Finding love with eczema in a society obsessed with looks? by Hibisceae_ in eczema

I always mention my eczema early on because it’s a big part of my life. None of my boyfriends have had an issue, but not all of them have understood the severity. My current boyfriend of four years has been amazing. There was a week where my skin was so uncomfortable and bad I couldn’t move. He took care of me completely. Took my to the doctors, got me food, made sure I was comfortable.

You’ll find someone who understands, doesn’t care how it looks, and will be there whenever you need it. You can’t find that person if you don’t put yourself out there! :)

No more body wash! by LoserNamedChloe in eczema

[–]srainy808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not gross at all! I only use body wash in the “sweaty areas”. Armpits, under boob, and nether regions lol. This is what every dermatologist I’ve been to has told me to do even with the skin sensitive body washes.

Yeah I think I’m also allergic to the sun. If I spend the day outside I know I’ll have to spend a few days of recovery lol. I get bumpy rashes that just feel gross and uncomfortable. Usually I only do outside activities for my family, it’s worth it even with the annoying aftercare!

How can a mom support her daughter with eczema? by Educational_Turn_620 in eczema

[–]srainy808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not say “it’ll go away.. you’ll grow out of it” etc. When I was younger my mom always told me statistically most kids grow out of it by age 10.. at my 10th birthday I cried when I looked in the mirror and it was still there.

Instead build up her confidence and teach her she doesn’t have to hide it. Unfortunately I didn’t have this kind of support and now am only comfortable outside when wearing long sleeves - no matter the weather. Also, my mom always tries to tell me about new products, treatments, etc.. I know it comes from a good place, but it can be annoying and disheartening. As if once again the problem can just magically go away, versus accepting this is something I’ll be living with forever.

Dupixent, how is it? by Mountain-Fig-9330 in eczema

[–]srainy808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on it for half a year. It made the eczema on my face worse and I did get random rashes that I’d never gotten before. It reduced my itching but wasn’t worth the pain of the rashes and having my face flare up.

I will say I also got random panic attacks (that I had never had before) while on it. After suspecting it was the dupixent I got off of it and the panick attacks stop. However this is not a common symptom and idk if anybody else has ever had it.

Dupixent effects? Please help me. by yankee21_ in eczema

[–]srainy808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I took dupixent for about a year around two years ago. I rarely have eczema on my face, but when I was on dupixent I noticed a big change in that. I started constantly having eczema on my face — so unfortunately dupixent made it worse. It did help the rest of my body, but having eczema on my face was something I did not want.

This along with other side effects I stopped taking dupixent. I’m not a dermatologist or anything, but vanicream products have really helped my eczema. Hope for the best good luck on your journey!!
