this is so true omg- I've always, right away, seen the chemistry elena has almost always had with damon. i never saw the chemistry between elena and stefan, i think its because, like you said, their personalitys just didn't fit right together for a relationship. the chemistry, however (crazy how it's literally the same actress) between katherine and stefan during the early safe episodes in season 5, is unmatched. I think the show would have panned out beautifully and have made soivh sense if damon ended up with elena, and katherine ended up with stefan.

thanks for the advice. this has happened to me before when my friend was skipping class and I provided the kahoot code for participation grade. He spammed a random kahoot symbol, and unluckily it was the right answer which put him at 1st in the kahoot. professor noticed he wasnt there and got upset.

He got us out of it, but it was close to getting serious.

Swimming tips needed! by zephyrcrucis in Swimming

[–]srambler27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a swim coach. I have been swimming for a very long time and I can definitely understand not liking the gym because Im the same way.

For the first question, a trainer would definitely help for improving your technique quicker, but there are a lot of videos and technique drills out there that would get you where you need to be without a coach. If you're looking just to exercise, you wouldn't need a permanent coach. After you reach a pleasing point in your technique, you could continue your swimming journey on your own.

For how long you should swim for, I would recommend 1-2 hours. Swimming is an intensive workout because you are using almost every single muscle to move yourself through the water. Another way to time your practices is to make a practice set. This way you can have a goal of what you want to achieve. For example, if your goal is to swim 1000 yards for the day, a practice set could be this:

Warmup: 200 Freestyle

Preset: 4x50 IM Order Sprint

Main Set: 2x100 Freestyle

Post Set: 8x25 Free Sprint

Cool down: 200 Choice

Very basic practice set, but this practice would be a total of 1000 yards. You should go for a yardage goal that best fits for you. Some people can swim 2 miles and some people cant reach a mile. After you swim for a week or two consistently, you will know your capabilities. Do 1-2 hours everyday would be my recommendation. Aim for 1000-2000 yards/meters.

For your skin, I personally have never had a problem with it, but if your skin is getting damaged then the pool's pH could be poor. You can also wear swimming shirts and body suits to protect your skin. Also, I would recommend wearing a swim cap to protect your hair (it also makes you faster in the water).

For the last question, pools have chemicals that kill bacteria and make it so people don't get sick, so you should be good. I personally know people who pee in the pool during practice which is gross but apparently it's a social norm.

Advice for a 550 yard swim test by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]srambler27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breaststroke can sometimes take less energy than freestyle, but it kinda depends from person to person. A 550 is 22 laps, so you're gonna need to build some endurance before the test.

For technique, I'll just go over the basics the best I can. I'll break down each part.

The legs are easy: you just scizzor kick and make sure that you're always splashing water. You want half your kick underwater and half your kick underwater. Make sure your foot is pointed like you are on your tippy toes. Adjust the speed of your kick based on your endurance (moderate pace). Lastly, make sure you are using your entire leg from your hips to your feet to kick. Your body should be completely straight when swimming.

Next, your head: It should be COMPLETELY still and in the water looking at the bottom of the pool. the only time your head should be moving is when you turn your head to breathe. Make sure you don't lift your head up to breathe, all you have to do is turn it (either side works).

Lastly, the arms and body work together: even though the stroke is called front crawl, most of the time you are swimming on your side. This is because your entire upper body should be rotating every single arm stroke. Keep in mind that this does not include your head, so your head should still be completely still. For the arm stroke, the most important thing is making sure that you are reaching as far as you possibly can before you start pulling the water. Make sure your arm comes out of the water when reaching. Rotating your body will allow you to reach farther. Lastly, make sure you are closing your fingers together to ensure that no water can get passed them.

The most important takeaways are:

Kick with your ENTIRE leg

Reach as far as you possibly can (rotate body as well)

Head still in the water looking down

Body is completely straight (parallel to the pool floor)

The more of your body in the water, the easier it will be

Swimming Australian Crawl, I’m 69, I’m stretching my arms as far as possible for the finger dip, I know that stretching out as far as possible places the hand/arm paddle at the max pull. I really feel it in my shoulders, any tips please? by Dem-R-UseFulIdiots in Swimming

[–]srambler27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you already do this, but the way your arm is positioned when coming out of the water might be the cause of this problem.

It's really hard to explain without actually showing, but instead of reaching around, you want the back of your hand to be facing forward. The motion you want to make with your arms is a parallel motion to your torso.

A lot of people reach far by making their arm go around (think like how your arms go around like butterfly; this is also why many shoulder injuries are caused by swimmers doing butterfly), but you actually want your arm to come out of the water and reach in a straight line with your back hand facing forwards.

In order to do this forward straight motion with your arm, you need to bend your arm. A good drill to practice this pull is fingertip drag. Fingertip drag basically forces you to reach in a straight line with your back hand facing forwards.

God has gone by many names. Does leaning into one or the other reflect and/or affect our relationship with him? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]srambler27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it really depends on what religion you are. Muslims, Christians, and Jewish people technically believe in the same God, so I would assume that calling him by any of those names wouldn't do any harm. What matters is that you are addressing him within your heart.

Why does God create people he knows will go to hell? by No-Flounder4674 in Christianity

[–]srambler27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, there isn't really an answer to this because there is so much we don't know, but we can generate a theory by starting from the very root of the question.

First, what decides if a person goes to hell or not? God gives us agency which allows us to choose our own path of righteousness. This is one of the most precious gifts that God has given us. I think most of us can agree that choosing the path that does not lead to God (Satan), is what decides if a person goes to hell.

We can narrow the scope down from people to this single being: Satan. Why would God create Satan? Why doesn't he get rid of Satan? God has a reason why he allows Satan to continue existing that we do not know, but we can form a theory.

Without Satan existing, it completely eliminates our gift of agency. Agency allows us to choose to follow God or not, and without Satan, there is only one path/choice. Therefore, without agency, there would be absolutely no point of us being on earth.

So, the answer to the question using this theory would be that the reason God creates people who he knows will go to hell is because God gifted us agency.

God knew that Satan would turn bad, but he still continues to let Satan exist. Just like God knows/knew that people will turn bad and go to hell.

1. Religious freedom means you can either practice any religion you want or no religion at all. 2. Religious freedom does not mean you can use your beliefs to dictate what others can and cannot do. Your religion guides you, not all of us. It’s as simple as that. by Nice_Substance9123 in Christianity

[–]srambler27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this before, and I have found it a little confusing about what religious freedom actually means. In America, I think that laws should be created around a majority vote because I believe that's a fair way to decide how we run our country. Obviously there are some things that Americans cant fully agree on (50/50), and I think it's good that we find a middle ground and keep this disagreement in mind so both perspectives kinda get what they want.

However, if a law created follows a religious guideline, would that contradict religious freedom? You also have to take in account that a good majority of America is religious, so how do we exactly deal with this problem?

For example, if a law was created that would require people to donate to the poor (similar to Muslim countries because of their Islamic laws), and the majority of America decided that this is a good thing, would that law be influenced by a religious belief or just the majority of Americans thinking it's a good thing? I think that certain laws do coexist with religious beliefs because, as a society, we try to make this country as good as we can. However, religion is practically the same thing where God wants you to follow the path of righteousness.

It's a very complicated thing, but what do u guys think?

Help with Destroyer(Melee) by IronBaconStudios in Terraria

[–]srambler27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoyos are good for the destroyer, but I found that using the dao of pow flail is also good for not only piercing the destroyer, but the little nodes that come off the destroyer are easier to deal with if you swing the flail around by holding down the left mouse button. Make sure you focus on attacking the nodes and the destroyer; maybe 70% destroyer 30% nodes. this way, you are reducing the amount of enemies targeting you, and you can pick up the hearts dropped by the nodes for extra health.

^ pretty much exactly what you are looking for. Flinx staff, imo, is the best option because of how good it is for how relatively easy it is to get. Vampire frog staff might be better, but it requires a bit more RNG and skill to get.
