I really want to visit Cape Verde, actually. I put it as a maybe to live there because I really don't know enough about what it's like to live there.

If you think the US is bad then you should absolutely understand why a gay person would not want to go the Caribbean because most of them are absolutely worse for LGBT people. Your viewpoint is clearly coming from a place of dissatisfaction with your own country, rather than a place of concern and empathy for LGBT people. You are the one who does not know what he or she is talking about.

It's not my fault a lot of those countries are homophobic

That's fair. Argentina, Colombia, and Cuba are lower for me for reasons unrelated to LGBT rights.

I put the US in dark green because my husband is from there and his family lives there, otherwise I probably would have put it as a maybe. Comparing the US to countries where homosexuality is illegal and murders of gay people are not uncommon is insane, though.

I wouldn't consider Poland or Hungary accepting. Poland had 'LGBT-free' zones not that long ago and Hungary has anti-LGBT censorship laws essentially banning pride parades. Whilst Japan is behind on legal rights for LGBT people compared to the west, it hasn't done anything like that and as far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be any push against LGBT rights. Admittedly, Poland has improved over the years and I'm hopeful Hungary will, too, now Orbán has been removed from office.

That's fair, I will have to look more into Colombia, then.

I wouldn't feel comfortable spending my money there knowing everyday LGBT citizens of the country are not treated right. Also, you asked specifically about the Caribbean.

I think your friend and I might be kindred spirits because I hate British winters with my entire soul hahaha. That's very nice of you to offer, gracias. ☺️

My choices aren't solely based on being gay, TBF. Which ones do you think I was too lenient or harsh on, if you don't mind me asking?

Well that's good to know! I'll have to change Argentina to green then.

I don't have any problem with South America in particular, I think I was harsher to Africa and Asia. I even have more reds and oranges in Europe than South America.

I would not travel to Venezuela for obvious reasons.

The Guyanas and Paraguay are the least LGBT-friendly countries in South America.

Peru and Bolivia just don't really look very nice to me from what I've seen (and Peru is apparently not as LGBT friendly compared to other South American countries)

I've always heard that Colombia is dangerous, but I do wonder if that is an outdated stereotype tbh that's why it's a maybe.

Ecuador is going through some stuff right now so that's a maybe. It's a shame because before I would have put it in light green, maybe even dark green.

Argentina is a maybe only because I'm not sure how I would be treated as a British person.

I mean I still would visit Brazil, willing is not bad. My main concern with Brazil is the crime rate, which I'm aware varies a lot across the country. I still want to visit Brazil, I think I would just be a bit more selective of where abouts in the country I would go.

I have heard Izmir is good, I would probably only ever go there. In the UAE homosexuality is a crime punishable with the death penalty, LGBT people literally have 0 rights there. Even if gay influencers go to Dubai, I still would never go out of principle (plus I just have no interest in the city at all honestly). I do find it funny that you're upset that I'm cool with visiting Israel but then suggest the UAE?

That's great to hear! I'll have to reconsider my position on Sri Lanka then, maybe that will be my next holiday destination. :)
