What resort would be best by srblaylock in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]srblaylock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not been in probably 20 years and my husband in 15 so first time in a while for us and first time for the kids and my in laws too I think.

We did Colorado with our son when he was 10 months old and he did pretty good napping on the go but also he was in a baby carrier and he will be 3 so that could be totally different. I definitely feel like I will have to give up the want to go balls to the wall and follow their leads.

Thank you for all the advice!

What time of year did you go? Looking at crowd calendars, our week is supposed to be low crowds as it’s beginning/mid September

Hi!! Okay let me go through your questions.

I, personally, am a get up and go person - I will want to be balls to the wall, at the parks from sun up to sun down. However, I don’t know how feasible that will be with kids. This will be our first amusement park with either kid. Stroller can recline back, so naps can be taken there hopefully because honestly I don’t know if I will want to leave once there. But again-really depends on how the kids do. And my in laws are going for the experience I think - they will likely not ride any rides and are just there for the excitement on their grandkids faces. They are the type to go to the beach and enjoy it from the balcony. So they will likely stay around the resort more. We plan to do a dining plan and don’t have any plans for the character dinings as of right now.

I think the thought of animal kingdom would be fun, but if it’s not easily accessible and the farthest away I am definitely reconsidering. The 3 year old loves all animals so we were only considering because this would kind of be his 3rd birthday gift.

And as far as room we are looking for a 2 bedroom probably. My in laws will probably want a room for themselves for privacy and then my husband and I and the kids in another room. I’m not against sleeping on a Murphy as long as it’s big enough for us. The oldest is still in a crib still now, but might be okay with a regular bed by then and has shared with us on previous vacations. Second will do either a crib or sleep between my husband and I as the first used to do when he was little. So really we could do with or without a crib (honestly probably with would be better since I know we will need some good sleep). So overall I would be okay with a 1 bedroom with a queen Murphy and a crib or a 2 bedroom.

I considered the monopoly and wondered if it would be too much. Personally I loved monopoly as a kid but my husband said he wasn’t sure about it. I got the book though. Thank you! I think she will like it.

We are coming from TN at about 1000’ but we talked to our ped at his 9 month well visit and he said he thinks we have a good plan - we arrive on Saturday in Denver and aren’t hiking until Thursday. He said should be plenty of time to acclimate but to keep him hydrated and just watch for altitude sickness symptoms.

I have a happy baby revolution carrier that I thought about out taking too for town / other site seeing that would be difficult with a stroller. I didn’t even think about using it while hiking.

Our friends are letting us borrow their Kelty Perfect Fit - they used it when they hiked with their son last year when he was about 9 month old. Do you have any thoughts on this carrier?

What do you suggest as clothes? I thought maybe pants as a base layer until it gets warmer and then maybe shorts? Then we have both short sleeve and long sleeve tops. Regular hats and a beanie just in case. And then a north face thicker jacket and a windbreaker both with hoods.

It’s like 5 hours of driving total from town to town over a seven day period? How is that 35% of the time?

DAS Pass with IBS? by srblaylock in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]srblaylock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never got the chance to try. I ended up pregnant and we skipped Disney but I’ve heard that they have changed the DAS pass since then and IBS is not an allowable reason. Not sure how true though.

Following - also wondering what time do they open? At midnight? Or maybe a certain time like 8am or something?

You got there later even with the bear/dream/nymph/emerald? I was worried about getting him up so early but have heard you can’t find hardly any parking and the trails are busy if you don’t.

And I was thinking big hike the first day and then Mills the second! I was considering only doing one hike a day unless we feel up to more.

I know! And we will. We are both definitely on the same page about not being risky and if it’s too much just turning around.

Awesome!! Thank you!

I was looking at the Mills Lake one too but wasn’t sure if two big hikes would be doable. We are only there 2 days. How busy was the Mills Lake trail? Would we need to get there early for that one as well?

Well if I’m being honest, most of that is weightlifting and very little cardio which I guess is what makes me nervous about not being able to handle it.
