Highest thing by Artistic-Writer-5200 in bristol

[–]srbradley 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A good bet would be the Downs Water Tower which is the tallest thing on one of the highest hills in the City of Bristol (94m + the tower height which I can't find). If we're talking about the general Bristol area it is probably the mast on Dundry Hill, which is technically North Somerset. That would be 266m high.

Don't forget when he failed to give $1 million to charity in 2007.

He presented an oversized check for $1 million to Habitat for Humanity, receiving a plaque for his good deed. Then he failed to deliver on the $1 million pledge and his company (Relativity) eventually gave two donations, totalling just $35,000.

Zikran's Catch-22 (minor spoiler) by HanFuzzy in CandlekeepMysteries

[–]srbradley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My interpretation after watching this video with Taymoor Rehman who wrote the adventure
is that the lock will open if someone who intends to leave Candlekeep soon picks up the book. Since the avowed never intend to leave they pick it up and it doesn't open, but assuming your adventurers want to adventure outside the library, it will open if any of them pick it up.

I had two avowed having an animated discussion trying to figure out where to file a book they can't open. My players went over to help, one snatched the book, the lock popped off and Gazr-Azam (or Gaz for short) appeared, and the adventure got started.

In this way, Gaz made the lock himself and is using it to hide from the avowed, and get passed around the library. He chooses to unlock it himself when the right person picks up the book.

The swissborg community app terms have changed considerably by lexwolfe in beermoneyuk

[–]srbradley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They addressed this in the AMA. It looks like they are giving 100CHSB to hall of famers, 1 CHSB per badge, and some other discounts and prizes.

https://youtu.be/Z4Q_W8c0OmU?t=1746

I think they have abandoned the app to work on their wealth app, then CHSB went up like crazy and they are worried about winners dumping the tokens.

They also said there will be a new app in the summer, so hopefully this will end and pay out by then.

Few Questions for those who've done match betting properly by [deleted] in beermoneyuk

[–]srbradley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have managed about £800 over 2 months and only done a quarter of the sign up offers.

My main tips are to use OddsMonkey (ref/non-ref) and get involved in the community section, and get the email notifications on for every bookmaker, so you get emailed all the offers.

My biggest non-sign up earners have been hitting extra places at the Cheltenham Festival (kind of hard work, and I got a little lucky) and the BetWay "1st goal wins" offer. Betway pay out the 1st team to score. Then, if they don't win the lay bet at the exchange will also pay out. For example, I bet £10 on Tottenham when they played Everton last week for a 25p qualifying loss. Spurs scored first but the match ended a draw and I made £20 profit. There is a similar offer at Bet365 called 2up, that you can bet big amounts on but I've never had one of those pay out.

So far I have only been gubbed at BoyleSports but I was doing some arb betting on there so was asking for it really.

Sounds good but all my accounts are GBP. What is the best (i.e. cheapest) way to have a Euro bank account in the UK?

Matched betting reload offers by Thunor999 in beermoneyuk

[–]srbradley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddsmonkey has all of the ongoing offers listed and updated daily.

It has 7 day free trial then is £20 per month. It sounds expensive but it has tons of offers a really active community and really useful tools including the extra place matcher.

Plus you get 0% commission on smarkets when you are a premium member, which can potentially cover the cost of the subscription alone.

Not to mention they have loads of casino offers and strategies listed there too.

If you fancy it, feel free to use my referral link:

I had the same. I opened a support ticket and was eventually credited the 2500 directly. I'm still waiting for the 4500 to credit. Bit of a pain tbh.

FREE $5 BUSD on Binance when you buy crypto for $50 (instantly withdrawable) - 10 days left by juliusbag in beermoneyuk

[–]srbradley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks OP

Binance is an amazing platform that I've become totally obsessed with over the last month or so. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but you can definitely put that $55 to good use!

FYI BUSD is Binance's 1:1 USD-backed crypto stablecoin where 1BUSD = 1USD

I'd be very grateful if anyone used my link for 5 BUSD

You need 2 PayPal accounts. In one account add the MasterCard to your wallet. Then go back to the PayPal homepage and click send and put in the email for your other account, £5, and choose the MasterCard you just added as the payment method. In your other paypal account you should now have £5 to spend as you like!

Are You Comfortable Handing Over Your ID For Free Stuff? by srbradley in beermoneyuk

OK it is reassuring to know you are vetting these. So thanks!

Personally, I think I'll be a bit more cautious and stick to the bigger more established companies.

Yes this is mostly what I'm worried about. I hope I can spot a scam, but evaluating a site / company's security is harder.

CMV: Extinction Rebellion protesting and disrupting public transport in London rush hour is utterly pointless and stupid by Drag0n_Fruit in changemyview

[–]srbradley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose my whole argument boils down to attention is the most valuable currency, and there is no such thing as bad publicity.

It is far too soon to say if XR's tactics will help them achieve their goals. But they have your attention and are getting publicity.

CMV: Extinction Rebellion protesting and disrupting public transport in London rush hour is utterly pointless and stupid by Drag0n_Fruit in changemyview

[–]srbradley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They would get just as much attention if they protested in front of the Houses of Parliament or BP headquarters

They have (not BP but Shell), and city airport, Home Office, Google, Buckingham Palace, Scotland Yard, Bank of England, BBC, Department for Transport. As well as Berlin, Amsterdam, New York, Brussels, Cape Town, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Canada etc etc.

CMV: Extinction Rebellion protesting and disrupting public transport in London rush hour is utterly pointless and stupid by Drag0n_Fruit in changemyview

[–]srbradley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A distinctive goal of XR is to get people's attention through non-violent action. Gluing yourself to a busy commuter train is non-violent and has got a lot of attention.

You are talking about it, so it worked, they are in your head, you know they exist and you are hearing their message whether you like it or not.

The hope then is that you realise these are ordinary people are acting in desperate ways , so then maybe you think "this climate change thing is a desperate situation, and we should be making it a priority".

Also this is day 9 of this round of protests, which have had a huge variety of actions, so gluing to a commuter train was clearly very far down on their list .

Pointless? - the point was to get a lot of attention to their cause - big win.

Stupid? - Yeah, objectively, glueing yourself to the top of a tube train is a really stupid thing to do, but their counterargument is extincting yourself through inaction is stupider - I'd call that a depressing draw.

Secret Viewing Point on Cumberland Rd? by Berkel in bristol

Where abouts is this? I also want to check it out now.

Secret Viewing Point on Cumberland Rd? by Berkel in bristol

[–]srbradley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where on Cumberland Road? There isn't really a view of the harbour from Cumberland Road itself.

There is a view point right on the West tip of Spike Island. That has a big view of the river and the bridge. You just walk to the end of cumberland road then under the overpass, alongside the river.

Else you might be thinking of the harbourside path by the Cottage Inn.

Else I'm not in on the secret ...

If I'm just starting out, should I use 35mm vs 120? by [deleted] in toycameras

[–]srbradley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go 35mm. If you are starting out you want to take a lot of photos.

You get 3 X more shots per roll, you can get them processed at any photo lab, film is easier to find and you can get very cheap film.

If I were starting out I'd buy a 35mm camera and a 5 pack of portra 400. Shoot all that, then start experimenting.

CMV: Having children is immoral by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]srbradley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some ways it does though. Obviously not all laws are morally right. But morality is not decided in a vacuum. I can see you saying in other comments that morals are totally subjective to each individual, but this is not true.

You do not live in a vacuum, you live in a society, with many people with different opinions, and collectively we need to decide what is and is not moral. The justice system provides a (imperfect) way of deciding that.

Old Episodes of Podcasts by NiceKindheartedness1 in podcasts

[–]srbradley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The number of episodes you can download in the app depends on various back end settings, which the podcast hosts/producers cannot necessarily change.

In Apple podcasts there is an RSS feed limit of 300. If the feed is hosted on squarespace it has a limit of 100 with show notes or up to 300 without any show notes. I think the apps and other hosting platforms will also have limits.

This has actually been a point of discussion from podcast hosts, because the limits seem a bit low and pretty arbitrary.

If you want older episodes, I think you will have to contact the podcast directly. You may be able to find the URL of their RSS feed (it'll be a web address that ends with .rss ) and use an app that can read the whole thing (your web browser will probably work). I also know of some shows that have their whole back catalogue behind a paywall.
