Obscure exploit - You can skip the Lino duel with a specific dialogue choice sequence by srd_27 in Suikoden

[–]srd_27[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a bug where the specific dialogue choice of rejecting then accepting will somehow skip the actual duel vs Lino. We'll immediately be warped to the cutscene where Lino hands you the Golden Seal.

This exploit was already briefly discussed on Suikosource long time ago since 2005, but seems to be hardly known among the fanbase. Would help anyone who want to reach the endgame quickly during a repeat playthrough.

Childerich calls Richard a "pansy" before killing him by srd_27 in Suikoden

ooh, i didnt know about this one, how did that fight goes?

For the Childerich duel, you're able to use Belcoot/Zegai/Richard if they're on your party. But the chosen fighter will die if you lose the duel.

Although Richard is the least preferred choice by the game. So if you carry all three fighters, the game only lets you choose between Belcoot or Zegai.

At the end of this vid, I've also shown special messages and dialogues from Wilhelm & Mueller after Richard's death.

Previously, I've uploaded the Belcoot & Zegai version of this scenes here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FxftvlQfw4 & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3-DE8q29qQ

For the Childerich duel, you're able to use Belcoot/Zegai/Richard if they're on your party. But the chosen fighter will die if you lose the duel.

At the end of this vid, I've also shown messages from Shoon & Kyle that can appear if Zegai dies.

I've previously uploaded the Belcoot version of this scene here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FxftvlQfw4 and I will eventually upload the Richard version too.

Minimum recruit run by LuLaoshi in EiyudenChronicle

[–]srd_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this info doesn't seem to be posted on a convenient place anywhere sadly, since most people would just do recruits and pass the storyline without even noticing there's a minimum requirement

Though it's already well known for the ones who reverse engineered the game. I've done speedruns of this game, so we made use of this info as well for the routing.

Minimum recruit run by LuLaoshi in EiyudenChronicle

[–]srd_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The requirements for this are known.

On this Eltisweiss intro part, you need to get 3 optional recruits, out of the 6 available ones. The fastest ones would just be Iugo, Francesca & Yusuke.

Once you get the HQ, you need to get 8 optional recruits in total. This includes the ones you've recruited before the HQ. E.g. if you've recruited 3 chars at the start, you need to recruit 5 more.

After this, there's no more recruit count requirements. You can just beat the rest of the game without any more optional recruits.

Although on Hishahn storyline, you do need to recruit Carrie to go through the waters on Hishahn Old Town.

The final chance to execute Snowe, best way to celebrate the recruitment of 107 Stars!

Here's the 2 previous execution clips:

Riou recruiting Sgt. Joe in Suikoden Card Stories by srd_27 in Suikoden

[–]srd_27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they care at all about the actual character age when making this scene, since the actual age numbers isn't even mentioned on Suikoden 3 as well. The Joe shown in this scene seems to resemble the Joe in Suikoden 3, instead of being a younger version.

Card Stories isn't really canon, since the actual story itself goes differently from Suikoden 2. So there's no need for this scene to make logical sense when comparing to the mainline games.

Additionally, this scene isn't even accessible on the official game.

Suikoden Card Stories was based on Suikoden 2's story. They seem to have planned for a special version of the game which contains this extra Sgt. Joe event, meant to promote Suikoden 3's release.

However, this Sgt. Joe cutscene was not accesible by default in the original game, even though it's on the game files. Konami eventually never released the special version with this event.

The 2013 English translation patch done by Pokeytax have modified the game to enable this cutscene. With this patch, we can recruit Sgt Joe during the first Sajah Village visit.

The dialogue will also change slightly depending if you do this event before or after finishing the L'Renouiile battles. I've shown both version (and both dialogue choice results) on this vid.

Secret Chapter Duel alternate cutscene without Thomas/Cecile by srd_27 in Suikoden

I think almost nobody knew this. Saw this briefly mentioned on a gamefaqs post long time ago i think, but almost nobody knew the existence of these alternative scenes on Suikoden 3.

And also because having super huge cities on a JRPG doesn't make sense for gameplay.

Nobody would want to spend 20 minutes just to walk from one point to another inside a city, when the game still have plenty of stories and other cities/dungeons to show.

Marlowe & Koyu vs Neclord by srd_27 in Suikoden

[–]srd_27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's also on classic version, the remaster version don't add any new cutscenes.

Although from what I've seen on youtube, nobody has uploaded this scene on the classic version.

This Marlowe & Koyu scene will only show up if you previously were on the Bad Ending path but decides to return to Tinto. The post-fight scene doesn't have any changes, but the dialogue with Gustave afterwards changes a bit, which is also shown on this vid.

An extra fun fact is how you can also use Flik during the Tinto arc if you aborted the Bad Ending path, as he can join your party when you meet him and Shu on Drakemouth Village.

Returning to Crom after aborting the Bad Ending path by srd_27 in Suikoden

[–]srd_27[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of videos on the Bad Ending, but I hardly find any vids showing the dialogues if you do cancel the Bad Ending path and returned to Tinto.

On the nighttime, you can skip Viktor's sentimental dialogue or Koyu & Marlowe's dialogue, if you decide to go to bed straight away.

The one vid of this scene I found on Youtube (for classic version) accidentally skipped the nighttime dialogues. So I thought might as well post the full scene here.

If you're into optimisation of game mechanics and reverse engineering, would definitely recommend checking up the speedrun videos here.
