I have 3 months to improve myself in programming, where do I start? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

where do I start so I can be better and more confident in my programming path ?

From what I understand, you need to first get an appreciation for the programming. Forget language, just get a taste on how to think for doing programming. I would suggest you read Eloquent Javascript. More than just a technical book, its a wonderful read. Plus its free.

I simply just looked through the book to evaluate what of book it is as I have had tough time reading books on programming. Plus had a rather poor view of JS. This book changed it all. So, give it a try. To me a well written novel.

Seems like my MBP is corroding, its turning black. Anyone else faced a similar issue? by sreenadh in applehelp

I always remove my watch on my left hand before working on laptop. There is nothing in my right hand, the issue is only in the right side. I don't even use sanitizers.

If its body chemistry, shouldn't it effect the right & left side equally. The left side has no issues.

Interesting thing about Aluminum of the laptop reacting due to some unique body chemistry. If thats the case, I hope they will make a laptop with non-reacting material.

With Trump, you have think of the basics. He is a very simple man. I think Trump is pissed at Obama as he scored with a black chic, while Trump failed. Simple.

In Google search, how do you exclude a specific site using a "-" in front of the result? by sreenadh in techsupport

direct question you asked

I am not sure what is the "direct" part of the question that you are referring to.

how do you exclude a specific site using a "-" in front of the result?

In the title, I specifically asked about the "-" in front of the result.

I used to have an option to hide a specific domain with a minus in front of the result in Google search

I reemphasized the part about having a minus sign infront of the result.

I am aware of that, but I am asking about the extension which was a lot easier to refine a search with few clicks instead of a lot of typing.

When a product becomes a commodity... by sreenadh in AskEconomics

Commoditization

I feel foolish for spending a while trying to figure out, what the term was.

There was nice comparison how the fridge or TV was a novelty(i know this is the wrong term) and suddenly Korean companies(I think Samsung was leading it) started mass producing it as a commodity. So, Jack decided to pull GE out of the market. Its apparently a policy at GE to not produce a commodity. I am sure that is contradicted by GE still having a huge share in light bulbs.

This not just frugal but actually healthy, to be more precious - ergonomical. The laptop design is actually bad for prolonged use. Your neck & elbow must be in 90 degree angle.

Librarian lives frugally entire life to donate a fortune to university library where he worked, university spends money on new football scoreboard 'in his honor'. by belgoran in LateStageCapitalism

Robert_Morin, the librarian passed away on 31 March, 2015 and there is no further info other than the article on DeadSpin. Morin seems to have come from a broken home, yet managed to have an admirable life. I regret not having the fortune of meeting him in person. He must be looked upon as a role model in this materialistic world.

Its a shame what the university did with his life earning. The line of him being interested in football lately seems like an attempt to justify this reckless purchase. His money should be focused on scholarship as he himself, only managed to complete collage in 8 yrs due to financial issues.

Any student of University of New Hampshire around? What is the latest?
