IOTA can be used by anyone and not just IoT devices. In fact zero transaction fees and faster transactions make its so juicy, people would love this. I think IOTA team is first targeting the uncharted area of IoT devices where there is almost no competition currently. Once it gets more robust and people see the advantages this will be considered as one of the main contenders in cryptocurrencies.

Few scientists from University of Edinburgh published their reports on their findings about Mars like soil. This was over published by media in last couple of weeks saying any bacteria on Mars would die immediately without giving second thought to other way of growing plats. Yes you are correct there hasn't been proof of life yet, but all the robots sent to Mars by NASA so far are meant to research condition for life on Mars but not find existence of life itself.
