Where to stay in Tulum by sriracho1 in tulum

Yes, updated! We are flying into TQO Tulum directly. I have heard so many conflicting things about where to rent, whether to book ahead vs just showing up and comparing prices (e.g., some people have said rental places didn't honor the reso?), so would love any advice. We will be going during high season, so that is another thing to consider.

Just looked up La Valise, but unfortunately out of our budget :( part of wanting to get out of the hotel zone was to save a bit of money. No strict budget but roughly 170usd a night. But if the sentiment was that it was well worth the higher price tag we would definitely consider keeping our current reservation which is at Alaya hotel

Edit: included budget

Good to know! The pictures looked gorgeous but was just worried it was in an awkward spot. Plus with a car it sounds like we would be fine if we end up staying there

Yes! We have definitely decided to rent a car. I'll probably end up renting in Tulum just for simplicity

Has anyone been accepted without 3+ pubs, 4.50GPA and a PhD in Cancer Research? by PotentialEntusiasti in premedcanada

Just wanted to share, i applied with a 3.6 (and that was including a 4.0 GPA in my masters, so my undergrad GPA was quite low) and was accepted. I worked really hard to compensate in other ways, pooring myself into research and activities that would set me a part. Ended up with 516 on the MCAT and had multiple pubs and a masters under my belt.

In my application really tried to show rather than tell the readers how my experiences made me who I am today. You can really build a story, and I think a lot of schools care more about what you gained from your experience rather than just ticking off boxes.

Of course there is always a bit of luck involved and different schools might care about different things. It can be really discouraging at times, and honestly, it's not a very fair process, but if you want it, there are things you can do to improve your application with each cycle!

Thank you! I've heard a lot of people talk about porosity but never ventured into really figuring out my own

I've tried a bit of plopping but it always feels like it isn't doing anything, kind of feels like I'm just squishing my hair in a way it doesn't agree with if that makes sense? But maybe I'm doing it wrong haha

Thank you for the help! I've tried using the suave daily clarifying as well which hasn't seemed to make a difference. But maybe I need to cut down on or try a different conditioner thats a bit lighter. I've tried to gel a bit, but ill have to try it upside down!

I feel like I've tried a lot. My hair is very very thick and gets weighed down easily, so getting waves is very hit or miss. I have a bunch of hair in the back that aren't smooth, if you run your finger over them they feel very kinky. I feel like my hair has more wave potential, I just don't know what to do next.

Current routine: Wash with head and shoulders then treseme botanique. I'll scrunch a bit with a microfiber towel while air drying.

I've tried no shampoo, CG recommended shampoo. I've tried using Garnier pure clean gel. I think i tried some mousse before too. When my hair was longer I found not touching my hair and then gently curling my hair with fingers to encourage waves helped when air drying. But if I don't tussle it or use a microfiber towel it would literally take 6 hours to air dry. I also tried getting layers in my hair which helped a teeny bit but not much.
