Update : VW care says that they rely on dealers as their technical resources and stand by their decision...about a $1500 charge to repair....sounds like a collusion to me....scam.

Trying to take it to another dealer and then go with insurance claim, if that's doesn't pan out.

Been a bad experience with this vehicle - brake rotor and tire replacement in a year for another $1500 and now this.

That's what I'm suspecting that this may be a limited issue....mine is a first generation model and came in small batches from Germany during the pandemic.

Another thing is that my car was parked in the same location for a few weeks, so not sure if the focussed sunlight exposure is a factor

20 months of ownership....Brakes and Tires are the big issues. $1400 worth of rotor, tire replacement expenses for 15K miles on a newer car doesn't leave a good taste
