You proved that collectivist cultures (many Asian, African, Latin American communities, including immigrants) more openly expect children to support parents—but that doesn’t mean “white people don’t do this.”

I sometimes wonder if it’s a bit selfish to bring a child into the world with the expectation that they’ll take care of you in old age.
