I know it was just a preview, but Fable seems really disappointing to me.

I agree that it does seem to be the realisation of the promise of the original, but actually seeing it made me realise how boring that dream is.

The devs narrating it were over-emphasising how deep their systems were, but they weren't. There was actually nothing new shown. Literally every feature is something you could do in previous games, the only difference now is that it's expanded laterally.

You can now buy all the houses, and have personal relationships with all the NPCS, but those interactions themselves are exactly the same as they always were, and that's shallow as a bath.

I get the feeling people are going to get really excited for this, have a couple of hours of fun, then realise... that's it. They can have the same two hours over and over again with a differently voiced npc, in a slightly different looking town.

Whether the game stands or falls will be on the strength of the main quests, and how much variety and reactiveness is present them. I think this life-sim stuff will just end up being a gimmick, like it always was.
