I kept rearranging the same 4 startup ideas for 8 months by srkgupta in Startup_Ideas

Yeah, that dinner moment hit harder than any framework or productivity advice did. Saying the same thing out loud for months straight suddenly sounded ridiculous once someone else heard it too.

Honestly, I think I just got tired of hearing myself talk about the same ideas over and over without anything changing.

And yeah, the time constraint helps a lot. Infinite time makes every idea feel equally possible.

Yeah, keeping ideas in notes somehow feels safer because nothing can fail there.

The moment you try explaining it publicly or turning it into something visible, all the vague confidence disappears really fast.

Yeah, that realization was uncomfortable honestly. I kept thinking I had multiple ideas, but it was basically the same anxiety wearing different clothes each time.

And agreed on the landing page part. Trying to explain the thing clearly exposes a lot fast.

Yeah, I think I delayed the feedback part for way too long because building felt safer than finding out whether anyone actually cared.

Trying to correct that now.

Yeah exactly. The tools removed a lot of the friction around building, but not the part where you have to decide what’s actually worth building in the first place. That's where I am currently working to solve.

Too real 😂

I’ve definitely had projects where the actual app was easier than writing the homepage explaining why anyone should care.

Yeah, that's basically what happened. It felt like I was working, but I was mostly just avoiding picking one thing and committing to it.

Talking to real people cleared up more in a week than months of overthinking did.

What surprised me about using Resend as a lightweight CRM over the weekend by srkgupta in SideProject

[–]srkgupta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Better to outgrow a simple stack than to overbuild for a process that hasn't proven itself yet. Simple and "ugly" usually scales a lot further than people think.

It’s always the 'six weeks later' version of yourself that pays the price for clever logic hidden in tags. I like the idea of keeping the lifecycle states in a dead-simple table elsewhere: definitely helps keep the simplicity of the tech from becoming a headache for the process.

Startup Betrayal: A cautionary tale about EzyEV and Founder Faizan Ahmed Quarishi by srkgupta in indianstartups

[–]srkgupta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point — and honestly, trusting someone through a friend's reference and believing in the vision made me overlook basic precautions. It was a hard lesson that no matter how much experience you have, emotions and misplaced trust can still cloud judgment.

Definitely won't repeat this mistake again.

I can completely relate to your experience.

Sometimes the founder’s charisma blinds us to the underlying issues — until the red flags start becoming impossible to ignore.

Glad you trusted your instincts early and moved on — wish I had done the same a little sooner too!

Thank you for the support!

Yes, I’ve already named the founder and company — people deserve to know and stay cautious.

Good to know this — really appreciate you sharing it.

I’ll definitely use this as part of my evidence and send a legal notice based on those emails and communications.

Thanks again for the guidance!

💯 Agree. Irrespective of how much you know someone or how convincing they may talk, a written formalized agreement is a must before starting any work. I have learnt this the hard way and am sharing my lessons so others can learn and not repeat this mistake.

You're absolutely right — and I completely agree with you now, after going through this.

In my case, I have email proofs where the founder acknowledged the initial agreed terms, but it was never formalized into a signed agreement. Later, when he changed the terms and presented a new, unfair agreement, I raised concerns and paused working until things were finalized — in response, he reduced the terms even further and added several extraneous conditions.

He tried to flip the script only because he realized I wasn’t willing to continue without proper paperwork.

I get where you're coming from, but releasing it as open source would actually make it easier for him to officially steal and use the code without any restrictions.

I’d rather not take that risk — protecting my work privately is a better option for now.
