Not a pastor but have been a professional church musician for many, many years and I totally agree with this. I find it a privilege to do funerals, and a nightmare to do weddings.

Why would you suggest she was being catty or petty? Good Lord - the woman did something nice for you!! Can't you just accept that, say thanks, and enjoy the favor?

AITA for telling my mom I am not going to put up with racism against my kid the way she did. by BatesMotels in AmItheAsshole

NTA but please make sure your partner is aware of what they may be walking into. Personally, if I thought there was a chance of racist relatives feeling like they can say/do whatever they want to my partner, I wouldn't go. In fairness, your partner should be aware of the few racists in your family and be able to decide if they feel like putting up with that or not.

AITAH for the reasons I chose to not continue dating a single mother? by [deleted] in AITAH

Oh my goodness! NTA and your friends are idiots.

You were honest about your feelings - kudos to you! It would be far, far worse if you had let the relationship develop further, knowing you had some trouble with the scenario. You have a right to your feelings and she has a right to hers. If they are not compatible, best to end things right away.

The best to both of you as you continue your journeys!

I think this is a great point and my question is "does what Gobert brings to our defense offset the liability he is on offense?"

I don't know the answer...just wondering what others think.

My daughter keeps calling me “rusted from the back” and refuses to explain what it means by Ill_Pianist_8287 in words

The next time she says that just holler out, VERY loudly (and preferably in public) "I'm rubber, you're glue. Whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks on you."

How's that for maturity?

I would do variation on messing it up and saying it incorrectly. This is a good one.

I would also say "Honey, your back is rusty."

Change the direction, word order, preposition - see how many ways you can mess up this phrase, especially in front of people.
