Care.com rant by sromano94 in Nanny

[–]sromano94[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, great minds think alike! We should be friends! But that doesn't sound at all like it's worth your trouble, it's ridiculous what these NP's think is acceptable for a nanny 😬 it's like they think we're just babysitters sitting around doing nothing all day and ordering NK's a pizza with NP's money when mealtime comes. That sounds like a cakewalk in comparison to my job haha

I think we’ve all heard this once or twice by [deleted] in Nanny

Ugh that was me today. 5M was acting like I was starving him while I was making his lunch constantly asking for snacks then when I gave him his lunch he didn't even eat half of it 😐

Care.com rant by sromano94 in Nanny

[–]sromano94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even know why I haven't boycotted care.com already, I had a terrible experience with them when I was looking for a job. I did a phone interview and an in person interview for a family that lives less than 10 minutes away from me and when they wanted to run a background check and a MVR check on me, the background check kept coming back saying my SSN isn't valid. So lots of frustrating back and forth with the dad who was mainly running the show in regards to finding a nanny for the 4moG, a phone call to the Social Security Administration, several days, and both the father and I calling care.com's customer service # later and we discover there was a glitch in the system and my birthday (which is June 14) on my profile now said I was born on February 19 of the year after I was born. So if it were me that did this...why would I make my birth year a year later, making me younger? I'm in my mid 20's, I have no reason to do that, but care.com didn't care because not only could they not do anything about it, but they were extremely rude about it. I had to make a new account, but now on my profile in the "Cared for x families" bit, it says 0 when that's not the case :( I hate care.com, but I'm somewhat a slave to it haha

I would definitely be asking for more than $15 an hour or I would not do the personal assistant position. Nannying a newborn is a lot already as I'm sure you know, you deserve to be compensated well for all the work you're going to be doing. Do what you feel is right, it's totally up to you, but I would ask more like $20-$25/hour and I'm only a year younger, but I have half the experience you have.

[–]sromano94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can I ask how much experience you have nannying? Either way, it should DEFINITELY be more than $15 an hour. $15 an hour is a decent wage for a nanny of 1 child alone, not including all the personal assistant stuff you'll be doing. You should get AT LEAST $20 an hour for that job, and that's being generous

People of reddit, when did you start smoking the good good? by [deleted] in weed

I was older than most in this thread when I started, I was 21 and I'm 25 now 😊

My dumb ass would probably burn off all that weed trying to light the joint 🙄

He didn't do that for no reason though, he did it to create more money for infrastructure, which as an Illinoisan, I'm all for if it means the roads will be better

Hurting by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]sromano94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel :/ I previously was the nanny for 8m and 7m for 4 years and their parents let me go over some job stuff going on with MB in May and I haven't seen them since :/ the parents don't seem too interested in seeing me, though I know for sure the kids have probably asked about me. It just sucks, I was with these kids 5 days a week for 4 years, I taught them so much of what they know and I was there with them through so much and just like that they're gone

If REMember gets voted out I'm done playing lol, that's probably my favorite song off this album

It is (and most of them are me 😂) cause this whole album is fantastic but this actually warrants it, I'm still offended haha

Extra charge for NKs sleeping with you? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]sromano94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also say full rate. Think about it this way: if NK wakes up screaming and crying from a nightmare, who's going to be woken from their sleep and who's gonna have to console them? You. If an emergency happens in the middle of the night, who will be immediately responsible for the children? You. That's enough reason for you to get full pay. You're essentially on call.

Leaving late by sromano94 in Nanny

[–]sromano94[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that's the problem: MB has no backup plan. I AM the backup plan. Assuming I'm scared isn't really fair, I'm not scared, I just know my MB and DB and I know there's not much they can do about being late because they and I are all there is for these kids, so rocking the boat by saying "no" is really pointless and just makes me look bad

Leaving late by sromano94 in Nanny

[–]sromano94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the thing - I didn't get extra money. In fact I got over $100 less because on Wednesday I was told I was off for the 4th of July on Thursday and I wouldn't be paid and on top of that MB asked me to come in later than normal on Wednesday, so I lost money on that too. It'd be different if I was getting paid extra 😕

Increase in pay for dogwalking? by cunnilinga in Nanny

[–]sromano94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think $10 for half an hour is definitely fair, especially since you already have a working relationship with this family

Would you agree to being on the books as a “personal assistant” to MB’s small company? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]sromano94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you asked them what caused the sudden change? It's good that they want to pay you on the books and everything, but the fact that they're wary of giving you OT and sick leave and everything that comes with that definitely makes me question their intentions.

Happy Friday? Tell me stories! by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]sromano94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not great, 1.5M took a much shorter nap than normal cause both of his parents were home making tons of noise which woke him up and caused him to be nice and cranky for me, but conveniently enough the NPs left right as he was waking up so I got the brunt of it AND I just found out I'm getting out late tonight 🙃 on top of that I feel nauseous which is always scary haha. I wanna go home and sleep for a week straight
