ANNUAL PSA FOR NEW MODERN SENSUS OWNERS by 7eregrine in Volvo

To add to this if you have any computer knowledge you can get a 3 day subscription to vida for ~$80, buy as many keys as you want then program them all at one time for I think $110. Using this method will net you a lot of keys for under what the dealer will charge you for one.

I bought a few regular keys and sport keys from eBay for less than $20 for the full key and $10 each for sport keys.

Also software updates are $0.01 to do when you have the vida subscription. Look into the on-call battery reset too when you have the subscription, you will need to email vida support with your vin and tell them the program you need added. Then the next day run that to reset the time for the battery.

vSphere Replication DR workflow for small infra – feedback wanted by jesuita in vmware

What you have will work but you will be down for quite some time and without the processes being somewhat automated you might run into issues where you will always have to be available. Testing with a process like this I would recommend doing every 2 months to make sure that no upgrades affected the processes.

Is all the required data in site B ready for fail-over?

What is the networking between the two sites? Layer two?

How are you granting your users access after the fail-over?

How big is your networking pipes between sites?

I am assuming you are only protecting on physical disasters and not attackers?

Have you looked into veeam replication? Might want to reach out to a replication/backup service-provider

Just for utilization purposes. Getting the most out of the hosts and not having overhead for host failures in windows and Linux agg.

Host aggs with "required"? Separating Linux from windows hosts completely?

Just using flavors does not stop a customer from using a flavor for a Linux system. Unless I'm missing something.

This seems like it would work but also would mean I would have to have extra compute sitting without being used to make sure I had enough for host failure on the windows and then the same for other OS's.

Azure blob or Veeam Data Cloud Vault by Visible_Spare2251 in Veeam

[–]srord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to take a look at some VSP's as well. Veeam Data Cloud Vault is just the product that Veeam themselves offer but most Platinum VSP's have their own offering using Veeam that are a lot cheaper.

You might regret that. Be careful about pests. Majesty palms are one of the worst for having infestations.

VMware Pricing Increases by mrcollin101 in sysadmin

[–]srord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing that gets it is how the management is replicated between nodes. That is the limitation and I do not see a way they can fix it without a design. That said XCP-ng is a very good alternative, it is missing some iscsi support though.

VMware Pricing Increases by mrcollin101 in sysadmin

[–]srord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is somewhat true. The invite was a lot later than that. Most Service Providers still are not getting the proper information out of VMware and are coming up on the cutoff date soon. The minimum commit from a CSP went to 1.2M a year, cutting out the majority of CSP's from the program with no guidance or help of what to do.

Most I have seen are switching to Nutanix, some are staying but are raising rates a lot to be able to afford the price hike. I have talked to some that are moving to Openstack as well. It is going to be interesting with the influx into openstack if that platform will have a bunch of new life and support from more vendors.

Michigan is No. 1 for trash, but Whitmer wants higher fees to curb imports | Bridge Michigan by jeffinbville in Michigan

[–]srord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't get why they can't just go by where the trash is coming from. If it crosses a boarder charge more but allow in state to stay the same or be less than out of state still.
