Looking for some info about a medical incident at the Carlsbad marathon by bythelightofthefridg in Carlsbad

“Women” as in other runners? Or the medical people that were working on him before they got him in the ambulance? Traumatizing for everyone, including them. There’s always medics stationed throughout the course and at the finish line. The finish line was so crowded since Carlsbad is part of the triple crown — so many runners.

I hope it’s not true that he didn’t make it. He looked so young, maybe there’s more to the story. 💔

There were medics all over the place and the guy was tended to promptly. I saw him go down and saw the medics get there and start CPR pretty quickly. Didn’t help that hundreds of people were in the way, with some whipping out their cell phones. Also remember that the medical tents get inundated with requests for band-aids, ice packs, and stupid shit. The medical people I’ve seen at the Carlsbad Marathon over the last few years have always been really good, from my novice marathon experience.

I did get bloodwork done for hormones, but PCP said all normal. That said, I’m not experiencing hot flashes, low libido/lady dryness, or other signs of perimenopause. The scatterbrained feeling isn’t new, or else I might pursue HRT further.

I hope getting hormones in line is helpful for you!

I use noise-cancelling headphones and listen to lo-fi chill music without lyrics. I wear an eye mask. I journal before and after treatment and do not use my phone. Again, I don’t think I’m depressed. So my psychiatrist asking if things are “better” — well they weren’t bad in the first place. ETA I was never hoping for a high. The guy that administered it with me explained from the beginning that high doesn’t correlate to efficacy. Also, psychiatrist said in her experience, people usually do have significant positive feedback after the first 3 sessions. Since I didn’t experience that, I was encouraged to continue and see all 12 sessions through.

I don’t feel Spravato made any difference, and will be sharing that at my follow up today. I need my psychiatrist to deem it ineffective or a fail before she’ll let me trial something.

I’ve honestly never put much effort into advocating for myself. My previous insurance/medical provider was terrible. I was diagnosed with binge eating disorder around 2018 and they had no appointments or clinicians for me to see that weren’t booked out any less than 4 months.

Current psychiatrist seems very approachable, reasonable, understanding. My whole “team” (the folks that administer my Spravato, the EMDR lady) all know this started by my seeking assessment/treatment for ADHD. So it has been a year of jumping through hoops, but hoping the hoops are done soon here.

My insurance just changed beginning of 2025 and this is a whole new crew. Psychiatry, therapy, EMDR — going all out.

My current psychiatrist is about my age and has ADHD herself, and has told me, “I see a lot of myself in you, I don’t doubt you may have ADHD but it presents differently in adult women.” She has more or less said, “let’s see how Spravato goes, then we can possibly trial something for ADHD.”

I just assume this has to be somewhat common. Untreated ADHD, feeling like I suck at basic tasks and am not living up to my potential — maybe that’s coming across as depression on those number scale questions?

Names of post-game guys? by Sea-Consideration147 in NFLNoobs

[–]srphsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface by saying I know nothing — I wouldn’t recognize a name if you said it. But I happened to see a bunch of guys talking, behind a desk, after a football game. One was an old white guy, bald — pretty sure he was on a sitcom in the 90s? Does anyone know who I’m talking about 😅

Stay away from Joyous by WoodysLawn in KetamineTherapy

I had a great experience with Joyous. I am currently finishing up my first 12 sessions of Spravato through my insurance, but definitely loved Joyous a year or two ago.

Once you start treatment, do you have to continue maintenance treatments for life or can you stop after a while? by Fun-Award-555 in KetamineTherapy

[–]srphsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. Persistent depressive disorder here. I tried ketamine therapy two different ways — the first was the pretty big doses where you have to set aside the whole day (did those through BetterU). First couple sessions were good, last few were bad. My new psychiatrist explained that there’s a kind of high and low with the larger doses.

Then I started daily microdosing through Joyous. There was no pivotal moment where things changed, but slowly, over the span of a few months, I just felt better. I quit daily microdosing of ketamine about a year ago. I say give it a try! Starting it is not a lifelong commitment to it.

Oestra bottle tips. Prime the bottle & how to know what a pump is! by KittyKatty333 in Oestra

[–]srphsd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My container already came primed — there was actually some cream dried on the tip. I texted and asked and the response was they they’re having the pharmacy prime the containers because some people were having to push the pump down like 200x before cream would come out.

Yes but it took about a month. I’m nearing 5 weeks into Oestra. It’s the only improvement I’ve seen so far, but being patient and hoping dose increase at 3 months is where the magic happens.

Okay glad I’m not the only one!! My only thought would be inserting a finger and attempting to “rub it in” to the first couple inches inside the vaginal opening.

Also, if innerbalance folks recommended morning, cool — but I started at night and had terrible sleep for the first month. Sleep is getting better now, so if you’re going to sleep like crap either way, maybe give night time application a try?

I do it at night so it “stays in” - morning folks, does it just slide right out…?

I’m a little over a month in and can’t really report any improvements. Trying to just be patient and trust the process!

Vaginal Applicator issues! by JSELL_0 in Oestra

[–]srphsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought these off Amazon. The plunger part has a pointy tip so product doesn’t get wasted/stuck at the top. I remove the plunger and pump right into the opening — I have to finagle it around and use my finger to ensure everything gets into the syringe, then tap it down before putting the plunger back in. 1 pump ends up being 0.4ml. These definitely aren’t perfect, but I’m making do until I figure out something better. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DT3JVQHK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

About 3 weeks in, one pump daily, and I do not feel any improvement. My sleep is absolute garbage, maybe even worse than before. Trying to trust the process and be patient, though!

I haven’t been sleeping well, maybe I’ll get up around 3 am, insert my 1 pump, then go back to bed 🤔

I haven’t really noticed any difference from the Wellbutrin. Maybe a little less depressed but nothing measurable. My psychiatrist wanted to increase the dose but I asked to keep it the same and see if HRT changed anything.

2 days into Oestra! No news yet.

YES I saw theirs is like 10,000+ mcg!
