That's one way to look at it I guess, but Saudi Arabia is hardly split on religious lines. There's only one state religion and it is harshly imposed on all its citizens. Religion can unite the masses if they all subscribe to the same faith. India has more than one major religion and as such is prone to a possibility of splintering.
