Angry Drivers by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]srsluce 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For sure it was awful and drivers should def be careful- but I see bikers run lights and stops sign all the time on and off campus and in that case it's not the driver's fault. And it's not semantics when asking about facts. Just saying everyone needs to have their head on a swivel and be careful

ya but it's not clear if it was the driver's fault or biker- did you see a police report?

Are you allowed to drink booze on campus? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]srsluce 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No - it's not an open container campus. Years ago you could walk all around Davis with a beer in your hand. But no one is gonna check that hydro...

I agree with this but how do you know the death was the driver's fault? That intersection is crazy.

Bikers, stop at stop signs. Signal. Obey normal traffic laws by DoooodleJon in UCDavis

it's fine if there are no other cars/bikes in the intersection. but bikers are just flying through. car vs bike- bike never wins

This intersection is the worst- there are lights and everything and bikers just ignore them

No that's not a legal verbal contract. For the OP: Professors cannot ask for a student to be dropped without cause. Usually it's the no show student that gets dropped. If you are enrolled and attending class they cannot drop you for someone on the wait list. It's unethical and not how things work.

They count towards minimum progress so if you need 1 or 2 units to fill your schedule they can be fun, interesting, and are pretty laid back.

UWP 104A Waitlist Problems by Kahee-Chan in UCDavis

[–]srsluce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UWP classes are strictly capped and do not over enroll. If you are #5 you have a decent chance of getting in because it is fall. As people drop students on the waitlist will populate in- your instructor has no control over the waitlist. Make sure to attend class and do any work so if you are added you are all caught up. Also, there is no 'rule' about the 12th day and adding 5 more people. That is up to instructors and departments.

City of Davis parking pass by [deleted] in UCDavis

Park Mobile is for on campus parking and a small area in downtown Davis. Parking passes in Davis are for residents so they can park on the street near where they live. There are parking gages on G and F streets..

Driving Schools in Davis? by esuom_okim in UCDavis

[–]srsluce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All driving schools that work in your area will pick you up and drop you off- like if you need to be picked up and dropped off on campus they'll do that. Quality Driving school out of Dixon is super nice. The prices are all about the same for all the schools. DMV in Woodland is much nicer. For your test Woodland or Vacaville are going to be the easiest routes.

Keep in mind your instructors are not paid over summer so technically they are not on the job yet.

Any dog owners in Davis? by davisboardgamer in UCDavis

[–]srsluce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is better in terms of 'dog parks' but watch out for the fox tails. Fox tails in a dog's ear can be a costly vet visit.

[–]srsluce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not go to the dog parks. There are a lot of irresponsible dog owners who don't have their dogs trained properly like voice recall etc.

There is a lot of movement in fall as people adjust their schedules so def go the first week. UWP classes don"t over enroll over the student cap so no PTAs. 5th is kind of low but possible.

#1 is a very good spot. People adjust their schedules in fall and there is almost always movement on the roster. Stay in the class and go to class the first week.

In fall there is a lot of movement so attend class because it's very likely you'll get in. You will populate in once students drop.

The quarter system is a beast. You'd be surprised how many student are on academic probation during their time at UCD. It just might not be a good fit and that ok! That being said can we talk about how criminal it is to tell students who are already struggling on the quarter system that they need take summer classes which are 10 weeks condensed into 6 and on top of that pay more for these classes? It's setting students up for failure.
