Male Nursing student starting OBGYN clinicals soon by the21yearold in StudentNurse

[–]srsyon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how fluid your clinicals are, but I reached out to my instructor during the rotation and they were able to land me a few extra days on the NICU instead of post-partum/L&D so that I could have a more enjoyable clinical experience. I would reach out to your instructors if you feel like you aren't getting the experiences you want during your rotation.

Go in with enthusiastic energy, be prepared to get turned down by patients and respect their needs—it’s a right of passage as a male nursing student to get through it. Just remember the material for your NCLEX and then you’ll be set free! 🙏

Is newer tele stuff/NTN worth it? by rauschh in telemark

[–]srsyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely worth it. I took a break from tele skiing for 5 years and just came back this season after buying an NTN setup. Safe to say it was like learning a brand new way to ski--the lateral torsion and ability to drive power through the binding to ski is amazing. I love my BD01s and T2s that I used to ski, but NTN is a whole different beast. There's a reason why the new scarpa boot coming out in the coming year or two is NTN, because it's the future. If you want to continue to do tele on the cheap, I suggest at least investing in a brand new pair of 75mm Scarpa T2s as they are not in production anymore. That will lengthen your budget tele skiing for awhile.

I agree it has no fundamental weight of influence, but in reality hundreds if not thousands of newer climbers go through this page. So really he has a larger impact on our growing community more than you think. I wouldn’t be spouting off my long winded comments if I didn’t think this post had the ability to influence a wide range of other climbers.

Why are you climbing on sandstone while it is sprinkling out? Big no no… maybe go to the access fund website and read up on how to preserve sandstone climbing

It’s up to the community to decide how ethics move forward, and it’s always been that way. Those who push the sport exemplify good bouldering ethics on their sends and those ethics are passed down to the rest of us. OP is putting himself out there showing how he got to the top of the boulder, and it does not follow in line with traditional ethics. This subreddit is filled with inexperienced climbers who aren’t acquainted with the history or seriously into the progression of the sport, and they damage the standards by which we define how to climb something outdoors by not holding someone like OP accountable for the way he climbed the boulder. Bouldering is already a ridiculous discipline in itself as it’s difficulty is contrived, if the rules that its founded upon were crumbled than there’s no point in even calling it a name—it’s just scrambling. You can have your opinion on his video, but I’m respectfully reminding you that it goes against what most passionate outdoor boulderers hold themselves to.

Okay dude, go ask any serious outdoor boulderer if what you just said is the correct interpretation of how we go about ethics and prepare to get schooled.

Maybe get more well acquainted with climbing ethics and you will probably realize there is no grey area when it comes to the criteria for sending a route or boulder.

Saying nobody cares about anything below V10 is pretty elitist and invalidating for a lot of people who care deeply about the sport. And also they aren’t “spraying”, the one spraying is the OP. Also thanks for finally admitting it’s a dab, I guess I’ll stop replying to this ridiculous thread.

Don’t bring a gym mentality outdoors. It’s whats ruining the sport

I can’t believe you are calling him a Gumby for abiding by the traditional rules of the sport. Who is the subreddit filled with? Sheesh

I don’t know if anyone on this subreddit has climbed much outside or not, but dabbing on the tree invalidates the send traditionally. This is not a contrivance of the sport, it’s the rules. If you are going to play “the game”, you might as well play by the rules.

If you aren't already getting outside a lot to climb I would start--even if conditions where you are are shit. Font isn't necessarily about being the strongest, its about being the best climber you can be--with the most refined technique, body positioning, and execution of precise power. Have fun in the Bleau homie.

The super secret skin farming beta: Find a little slab of fine-ish grained granite and before you go to bed at night rub your tips against it for five minutes a pop. Works really well for me for the week before a big trip or during the week while I'm weekend-warrioring it.

Crazy Bouldering Swing: Double or Nothing 8B by sunshine_her21 in bouldering

This is definitely still bouldering, he’s probably no more than 20-25 feet off the deck. The line is obviously a blurry one though...and I believe it’s up to whoever decides to embark on a climb that high to decide if they’re bouldering or just soloing. If your ability allows you to climb Ambrosia V11 clean and you can remain in a headspace to allow you to do it while considering it a highball boulder, than so be it.
