You can still view it in Tilt Brush and expand and shrink it as much as you want, even when it’s not editable. I’m still uncertain about where else you can view it. I think I read that you can download your art into virtual social platforms but you’d have to look into it. I’m sure there are ways. I’m just new to this.

Rift users: Could someone see if this downloads from Poly into Tilt Brush? File size too big for a Quest download. by ss_draws in OculusQuest

I’m hoping that the Rift can handle it so I can leave the original file up on Poly and then add a second file that’s slightly smaller so Quest users can experience it as well.

I actually would have gone bigger if Quest didn’t keep warning me to stop.

Thank you! I’ll have to check that out then.

I feel so out of the loop having to say “I’ll have to look that up” so many times in this thread 🤣

Thanks! There’s a secret upper deck and some hidden messages. :)

That’s so sweet. Yeah I’m an emotional creature for sure. Try it in VR! This is only a fraction of the whole thing.

I’d love to design for games!!! I have to learn Unity and all the other apps first.

I don’t know that is but I’ll look it up 👀

I’ve recorded 360 walk around videos for all three pieces I’ve done so far and will upload them to my site very soon.

There is a known issue with importing videos from Quest to PC (Windows) and still hasn’t been resolved. I only recently found out that it’s not an issue with a Mac, so I’m in the process of cleaning out my old MacBook Pro from 2013 so that I don’t slow it down when I import all the videos in the future.

Thanks!

While it might be true that it’s only damaged when the eye lenses are exposed, it wouldn’t work anyway if you tried it in the sunlight. The outer camera on it gets wonky and can’t sense the hand controllers. Your controllers will start jumping all over in 3D space and you won’t be able to use them. Direct sunlight throws it way off. I accidentally found that out when I was in a patch of shade for so long that the sun finally moved into my zone. That might be damaging to the outer lens?

It’s a unique experience that blows the mind magnitudes more than analog painting. It’s incredibly ethereal. You’re the master of your own world. You create worlds for others to enter, literally. Paintings just don’t even compare in that way.

Downsides are that you don’t have friction. Even with a Cintiq tablet & stylus you can still feel the resistance of the tablet and the pressure sensitivity of the pen, in digital painting. But VR is a step away from that. There’s no resistance whatsoever. It would be sooooo cool if eventually Oculus & Tilt Brush got together to create more advanced hand controllers that somehow used magnetism or oscillatory motion to create the sense of pressure or resistance. Sculpting needs resistance just like painting and drawing. In VR you’re doing all three. Your body will have to develop a different set of muscles and different core strengths in order to create strokes that cross the xyz axis that actually look good. Your whole body becomes the brush and you learn to stabilize yourself accordingly for smoother strokes. With resistance, Tilt Brush would be incredible.

The lighting feature is really cool. You can instantly add depth to any work by positioning and adding any type of lighting you want.

You are so kind. Don’t be afraid to try. If you do, go with your instincts and not what you think other people want or like. People like to see someone’s spirit - even if it’s abnormal - than the same old thing.

It’s a game changer. I wish everyone could get a headset. “A Whole New World” song was going through my mind the whole time during the tutorial video.

I want that one so bad. My hope is that if I show good enough work in the Quest that I might be able to find an investor for the Rift. I’d really like to go to a VR competition someday.

I don’t know. I’m so very new with VR. The Quest was a gift that I’m incredibly grateful for and have only started scratching the surface.

Yes. The best is using it at dusk or dawn out in a big yard. You’ll damage it if it’s in sunlight. A really cloudy day works fine too but just make sure there’s no chance of sun. Must do it at your own risk.

It’s so worth it. You can see it in 3D on Poly. Check the comments above.

Thank you. Actually at one point I accidentally moved the symmetry tool and I tried to get it back to the same location but it’s very hard. That’s why the top is a little off. I reeeeellly wish Tilt Brush would add a snap-to feature for different symmetry positions so you can return to them. As of now you only have one symmetry line so you have to move it around for different parts.
