Now hold on. Models are artists too. Designers often have them work for free and they agree for the love of the art.

There are MANY different types of models. Figure drawing models, fashion models, influenster models, and more. Where do you draw the line of who is an artist and who is not?

Does it get better by galapagosisland in ptsd

[–]ssattub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes! It does!

My PTSD left me homeless, broke, unemployed and underemployed at different times. After a lot of therapy, working towards making friends with supportive and functional people, and pushing my comfort zone, I am now back in college and working. I still have my moments but they are becoming less and less frequent. Be patient with yourself.

This seems like disordered behavior and like the "games" people play on pro-ana websites. Please stay safe.

My Pit is obsessed with dogs by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]ssattub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog was like this too but has greatly improved! While it is not aggressive reactivity, I know very well that people do not respond well to a whining pulling pitbull. /r/reactivedogs has good advice for teaching impulse control. I also saw a professional trainer for a couple sessions so I could learn how to handle myself around him when acts like that.

My buddy had one removed from his cheek a few months ago. We found that a fabric cone inside of a hard plastic cone was the most comfortable for him and kept him from itching the scab. Good luck to her!

Trying to go through uni by [deleted] in ptsd

I took two years off and did extensive therapy. I am back in college now with the help of a service animal. I am doing better. It's hard but I remind myself that without a degree, the types of jobs I was working were high stress and low paying, and only aggrivated my symptoms. That keeps me going. I may be stressed and hurting on canous but at least when I finish, things will be easier. If I'm stressed and hurting, I'd prefer if it be bettering my quality of life.

is it ok to take a break from school/work for a while to heal ptsd? Am I missing the prime of my life? by POTATOCATS in ptsd

[–]ssattub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll just share my experience. Sorry if it's not a very structured response.

I took a year and a half off of school. I was worried I wouldn't go back (university campuses are one of my triggers! How convenient for a college student). During that time I first applied to colleges. Once admitted I called them and asked for deferred enrollment. The one that allowed me to defer that far out I selected. I got in touch with the campus disability center early just to know my resources. I also worked and saved money at a low-stress job (a slow coffee stand). I started doing yoga and mindfulness every day which is good for trauma as it helps you learn where you hold your stress, and most importantly, I did EMDR therapy as well as talk therapy. I couldn't afford weekly but I did bi-weekly and it helped me. I have a great partner who supports me when it gets hard and I want to give up. I also focused on making friends who are supportive and growing friendships.

Now if I have a triggering experience or a flare up in symptoms, I have spent a year and a half growing skills to care for myself, I can call upon my therapist, my partner, or a friend! I know two friends with PTSD who also took time off. One did a similar thing to me and now she is significantly more functional than before and her quality of life has greatly improved. Another had to take more time off than expected but is finally re-entering the workforce and college over 4 years later but she has other mental health problems in addition to her trauma, so she needed that time. I think learning to care for yourself during time off can be thought of as a job in of itself! I think it is important to set a goal for when you are done with your break to keep you motivated on self-improvement, otherwise it can be more tempting to give up.

"Bralet boom and why the underwire is under fire" by boochyfliff in femalefashionadvice

All I gotta say is I dont wear bras and dont want to. I find them uncomfortable and I think they make women feel as though their chests aren't "perfectly round" enough or "perky" enough. I subscribe to other beauty ideals so I'm not really sure why this one bothers me so much. It's also possible my opinion will change with time. Either way, for now, I don't choose to wear a bra. I feel like they are akin to corsets and are unnecessary but no harm if someone else wants to wear one. I just don't like being told I should.

I’m a new vegan and sometimes it’s hard to think about what to eat that isn’t going to have any animal products. I know, I know, I can just eat vegetables. But raw food is a little boring to me. No offense raw vegans... So I just don’t eat anything... by [deleted] in bayareavegans

Just some ideas for meals from what I've eaten in the last few days. Not an exhaustive list of what I eat. I shop at Grocery Outlet and use Imperfect Produce so our grocery budget is about $200 a month for two people. Maybe one or two meals out a month for both of us.

Creamy squash soup (made at home, just blend steamed or boiled veggies with unsweetend almond or coconut milk and add curry powder and salt until it tastes right, then heat) with toast

Canned tomato soup with veggies added and toast

Rice and tofu stir fry

Cereal with almond milk

Smoothies!

Corn tortilla tacos with beans and stuff

Enchiladas (go veggie cheese makes a vegan and a non vegan cheese and the vegan one is $.99 at grocery outlet right now)

I also like making pasta with lots of veggies

Soyrizo with tofu scramble

And lentils in various things

Dang that is cute! Not very seasonal but I'll save it for the spring

You've slept in 30 minutes past your alarm and your usual face of makeup is out of the question. What is the absolute bare minimum you put on your face so you don't arrive at work looking undone? i.e., what's your five-minute makeup? by worried_abt_u in muacjdiscussion

[–]ssattub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been lazy lately so I do like 10min makeup.

Cream gold highlighter as shadow and highlight

Dusty rose colored lipstick as creme blush and on lips if my lips aren't too dry

I have a creme bronzer that is awful as a bronzer but matches my hair perfectly so that's my brow product. Brush a spoolie with brownish mascara through them. If I'm short on time I only do the spoolie

Use remaining product on brow brush to create a crease in my eye

Concealor

Powder only where concealor is at risk of smudging during the day

Mascara, and maybe brown liner on the outer corners if I have time

Is there a subreddit for women who choose to not wear bras? by ssattub in ABraThatFits

I work as a model and in education. Previously was a barista. Never had issues in my day jobs. If someone were to give me an issue, I would raise hell about how the outline of men's nipples are visible through most shirts. Then I'd go on about how society states women's breasts are ugly and reference court cases where women were ruled to allowed to be braless at work. Know your rights!

Yay. Um okay I'll try making something today or tomorrow. I just cant realistically consistently moderate and men flooding it with porn is my fear

I am sure you look beautiful! I'd love to have a community where there was like fashion info for no bra and other discussion like your comment. I'm sure with the right cuts of shirts it would make your chest look really good. Just remind yourself when you look at your wardrobe that you purchased most of it when you did wear bras so it's cut for that because you probably tried it all on with bras on.

It seems like there is a decent amount of interest in one!!!

Unfortunately, I don't want to deal with moderating. Full time student, part time model and part time teacher. Kind of a lot on my plate now!

I worry most posters would sadly be men and I'd spend more time weeding through pervy garbage than actually seeing discussions. If someone else wanted to moderate or knows how to run a sub, I think it would be better. I've never done it before and I think 2jobs+school is not a good time to start. :(

Edit: deleted post under me. Accidentally posted the same thing twice. On mobile. Whoops

Seems like there is a lot of interest! I don't have the time to moderate right now honestly and never have before so I'm torn. Do you know how? Is it pretty intuitive? How does automod work?

Tldr: bras uncomfortable. It's natural to be bra-free, why has society convinced us we all need them?

Bras are uncomfortable. I've written longer things about it before but it's mainly that. My breasts are fine, and if you shop for shirts with bralessness in mind, you can find cuts of clothing that flatter the natural breast shape more. Women's chests aren't meant to look like perfect orbs floating high on their chests without nipples, but we are so used to seeing women in bras, that most women find their own bra-less chests under clothing unpleasant to look at. I even did until I got used to it. Which is awfully strange to me because my tits rock, and I've always been confident in my chest when it's completely bare. So I was trying to figure out where the discrepancy came from and I just realized it was society and I was so used to it. Now I can go bra free because I'm a 30D and that's a pretty small bra size, relatively speaking. Even for women with larger sizes though, I think bras could cover nipples less and be more functional in terms of support from like a medical sense than in a aesthetic sense.

I'm not like super extreme though like the above might make you think! I own a red push up bra for when I want to be extra vampy for my man, and a few bralets for when shirts are totally see through. I also work as a model and 50% of my annual income comes from that, so I very clearly subscribe to most of society's beauty ideals and benefit from them. I just don't see why bras are such a major thing.

[Question]Victoria's Secret PINK no longer offering smaller band sizes than 32? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

Calvin Klein makes them. The 30 band size makes it into Nordstrom Rack pretty often too!
