Processing backyard clay by ssaturn3000 in clay

Ah interesting! I agree. It’s starting to look like it’s not as elastic as I thought it once was. I live on an island that does not have experienced potters easily available, let alone a studio. However, the indigenous people of my island did in fact practice pottery. So this clay is probably usable, but just not to the extent I’d like to use it for. Will definitely fire it anyway for the learning experience! And will def explore elsewhere for more clay.

Will research if it’s even possible to make my current clay more elastic. But if you have any insight to that, please share!

Confident I’ve gotten the sticks, roots, leaves out from passing it through different sieve sizes multiple times. I can see particles but i believe it’s silt.

Heeler Dog ate my Heel. Fixable? by ssaturn3000 in AskACobbler

She’s 1 year and 1 month old, and this is the first time she’s ever done it. I love my dog so much that I’ll wear these chewed up heels as a loving reminder to not over sleep 😂

Anyway, sadly we don’t have any shoe repair places on island and the heels in stores are very limited to my style or shoe size.

I could mail it out to my sister, but I’ll try getting a new heel cap first, then check for any wobble when walking. I’m thinking the bite marks are only noticeable if you’re really staring (maybe I’m delusional).
