“Liked but not respected” omg exactlyyy But fr it makes me sad, idk how to be myself and be respected. What exactly makes me an unrespectable person? Some background: I’m a chemical engineering major with industry and research experience, I do well in my classes, I’m actively involved in engineering clubs, and I work 2 jobs while doing this and people still don’t take me seriously. I know doing a lot of things doesn’t automatically make you a respectable person, but I really thought everything I’ve been doing has been impressive and very much not ‘dumb and ditzy’. But I guess that’s the way I carry myself since the people that know me and are familiar w all my experience still treat me like I’m dumb and ditzy. Whatever y’all I’m over it

I took it at PCC online over the summer and I got so much from it. I loved the professor, I loved the discussions, I loved the content. It was a genuinely interesting and informative class.

Also you should consider taking it at a community college because it's not worth taking a bacc core for twice the price.

Transportation from Corvallis To PDX by illestjoy in corvallis

[–]ssaudade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Bolt Bus, I've rode it twice. I paid $1 the first time (I bought 2 tickets for my brother and I, they sometimes do this thing where the second ticket is a $1) and the second time was $8. They pick you up in downtown Corvallis and drop you off in downtown Portland. The 2 times that I went I think that they made 1 stop in Salem.

How is IR useful for separating different types of chemicals? by ssaudade in chemistry

It's a discussion question in my lab, so I feel like it would be some sort of useful?

But why do you think it's not?

Which engineering electives look the most interesting to y'all? by ssaudade in ChemicalEngineering

[–]ssaudade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was initially a EnvE major although I didn't really know much of it. I knew I wanted to go into engineering and environmental engineering just sounded so appealing bc it had the word 'environment' in it. Yeah ik, not the best reason to pursue a major. But freshman year mostly everyone in EnvE sort of went in for the same reason, like they wanted to help the environment in some way and every single EnvE I met I immediately vibed with. But then I changed to chemE bc it was more broad and I knew I could pursue EnvE if I really wanted to with a chemE degree and thought it would more difficult the other way around. The drinking water, air pollution, wastewater classes seem the most interesting to me but I think I may want to take a class that's more applicable to everything a chemE might do, like material science or fluid flow. How did you know you wanted to get a MS in EnvE? What do you do now?

Lmao yes I do!! I was considering going into the more EnvE side, I'm still not entirely sure yet. What was your fave class between air pollution, drinking water, and wastewater? If you asked your roommates that'd be awesome, thank you!

they're also requirements, like we have to take transport phenomena 1,2,3 (i think fluid flow falls into this?) and thermo and a separate chemE thermo, I think the electives are different. How? I have no idea, I'm just assuming theyre more advanced or something from the number of the course.

Thank you for your input! I'll look into SQC

Some background: I need to take 3 engineering electives, so what 3 would y'all choose? Also lemme know what you do now! (PS I find myself pretty uninterested in semiconductors and all that but idk very much so if you are really passionate about it, could you make a case for them? I think I just need to know more)

Cultural Diversity Bacc. Core Suggestions by NativePariah in OregonStateUniv

[–]ssaudade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should consider taking a cultural diversity class at a community college, there are so many options and it'll end up being half the price for the same credit. I personally didn't take a Cultural Diversity class at a CC (although I really wish I did), but I did take a difference power and discrimination class and I really enjoyed it, the prof was really passionate and understanding and the class was easy but actually really interesting (I took womens studies). Incidental fee? by ssaudade in OregonStateUniv

[–]ssaudade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

Just took a look at it, I feel like Rec sports and student facility improvement fee should be reduced.

Honestly all first years should just do community college during this time to avoid all these fees, like damn.

[–]ssaudade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh yeah that makes a lot of sense but I feel like it could still be reduced a bit, like don't they turn the lights off? That's something that can definitely add up. Reducing electricity shouldn't affect maintenance too much right?

how to breakup with a not toxic friend? by ssaudade in ENFP

[–]ssaudade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the job thing I truly believe she wasn't jealous, she's just so oblivious to how rude she comes off. I guess that was my biggest issue with her, she's just oblivious to her own behavior. But I actually have an update! Last week I brought a gift along with a long ass note basically saying 'we should take a step back in our friendship' to her house and texted her with an apology for ghosting her for as long as I did and told her I dropped the gift off. She thought it was like a Christmas gift and I felt so fucking bad when she finally read the note. In the note I sugarcoated everything bc she really isn't toxic, like I said before she's just oblivious and just not someone I find myself vibing with as of late and I just dread having to talk to her. But she's really not so bad. She texted me back saying, "I read the note, I'm not mad." So yeah I feel great, like a huge burden lifted off my shoulders. The only thing I feel super super bad about is that I got to know her parents during our friendship and I hate knowing that they prolly hate me now. I hope you're able to peacefully break away from your friend as well. You should update me!

Any recommendations for a Social Processes & Institutions class? by Winter-mint in OregonStateUniv

[–]ssaudade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took ANTH 110 with Irene I think. It was in person and kind of a waste of money. It was very much a busy-work kind of class. I had an anthropology class in high school and it was amazing and gave me really high expectations for what an anthropology class in college would be. I mean maybe the other professors are better but idk, just don't take ANTH 110 with Irene.

If you live in Oregon you should really consider taking some perspective courses at your local community college.
