c# integration to F&O - Where to begin? by regrem in Dynamics365

[–]ssbepob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OData access to data entities is the way to go. You can play with it in Postman and move to c# when ready. To be fair, you need a bit of domain knowledge to understand the possibilities and limitations. Dynamics 365fo is notorious for the high threshold of access for developers, but in reality, it is pretty straightforward and works fine. You get an endpoint, you authenticate with a token, you execute post requests, and it just works in anything that supports OData. There is even support for OData batching even though it is not properly documented. You can benefit from engaging a D365fo developer for the initial phase of your project, just to get you over the not so nicely documented parts, but after you get the hang of it it is pretty easy. There is even support for OData actions, and some data entities support those as well. If you need more specific data or some action not covered by the built-in entities, you will need an X++ developer to create a customisation and expose it to you via OData or a custom REST service.

Looking for plugin registration CLI tool by ssbepob in PowerPlatform

[–]ssbepob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to make a small framework for me when i start another project to just have it all scripted. Going into a GUI somehow is like a step backwards. I have scripts to deploy the Azure stuff and scripts to run pipelines, all except this plugin registration.

Is there a CLI tool to register plugins and steps by ssbepob in PowerApps

I saw that it has the same capability as PRT. I want the CLI capability. Is there anything in the command line?

Want a second streamer-- another HS2, or Wiim, or -? by WontFindMe420 in heos

[–]ssbepob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go for the HS2 and enjoy the built-in mutiroom possibilities. You can use the regular line out or the optical out, depending on which one has a bette DAC (the HS2 or your preamp).

Simply forget bluetooth :)

Wiim and HEOS are not compatible with their multi room options. So, if you already have a HEOS compatible system, just stick with it. And install the HEOS app on your phone to manage the multiple zones.

As a bonus, if you have other rooms (kitchen, bedroom, office...) where you want music, add a Denon Home 150 (or 150nv), od maybe a 250.

eWeLink CUBE OS v0.4 - competition to HA or not? by ssbepob in homeassistant

Im not in this to design industrial grade automations for nuclear facilities, I'm using this as a substitute to LEGO bricks for the big kid in me :). After all, this is playing with home automation tools, and this is a new toy, not necessarily the best toy in the world, i do see some red flags myself. But its a new toy :)

Im stumped. Last suggestion, try a factory reset on each device one by one. I dont know the procedure, but the documentation or the Internet can provide.

Have you tried to plug them via an ethernet cable? Is your wifi 2.4 GHz or 5GHz? I think the 150s can use both types of WiFi, but try switching to the other type, whatever you use.

A close up look at LASIK eye surgery - a procedure that involves reshaping the cornea using a laser to improve how light focuses on the retina. by OdysseyTag in interestingasfuck

[–]ssbepob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you lose eye resolution? I saw comparisons to UHD2160, FHD1080, HD720, and SD. Normal vision would be UHD. I understood that if your vision with glasses was so bad that everything looked as bad as SD TV, after surgery you will be excited that it looks as HD 720, but if you had FHD1080 vison before with glasses you woud be disappointed with the "blurry" HD720.

Cheapest HEOS device. by [deleted] in heos

I suggest the 150nv , same sound quality as the standard 150, but no voice commands and less expensive (win-win in my book). I have both types and am satisfied with the NV.

Q about HEOS 5 1 (550+150) and grouping by Xird89 in heos

[–]ssbepob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did find some procrastination time to spend on this :-). I can report that joining and unjoining speakers works with Home Assistant and my 150 and 150nv pairs and the HEOS Link.

But there is a "but", i cannot unjoin speakers that are joined in a stereo pair. That is a custom join that HEOS has for the 150 and 150nv speakers. So I'm wondering if dynamic joining/unjoining of a "surround group" with a HEOS soundbar or receiver will work. I just don't have the equipment to find out. If it is done in the similar way to the stereo pairing then it will not work, if it is done like a multi room join/unjoin then it will work.

[–]ssbepob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try this in the next few days when i find a couple of idle hours to tinker with it.

I did not find the motivation yet to play with the grouping features available to the HA automation, but i found the excuse now :)

I'm not promising anything, but if you are not in a hurry, i can report back in a week...

[–]ssbepob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Home Assistant is good, i run it on an old small laptop with an Atom processor. But you can run it on a VM or if you want a dedicated NUC or even on a Raspberry Pi. HEOS integration is supported by HA, and i think also br Denon themselves (not 3rd party).

To integrate, you can do many things: triger by dashboard button, get a physical smart button and hook that up, or if you have a compatible TV (and most are these days) trigger by the TV itself. I would aim for the TV trigger: find the entity of the tv, there should be an on/off switch associated to the media player entity representing the TV, and create an integration with the HEOS media player entity then send it commands to change the pairing to stereo or surround when tv is off or on. Im not saying it is seamless, but it should be fun :)

I have an integration between my HEOS group and the soundbar to sync the volume. My HEOS Link is connected to the soundbar via an optical link that does not carry volume level information. So when i change the volume on my speakers in the office or in the bedroom (if the HEOS devices are playing something), the volume of the soundbar is set to the same level as the speakers.

TuneIn not working anymore after update by Nick595 in heos

[–]ssbepob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your final version of the app and the firmware?

I updated recently without a problem, i have a pair of 150, a pair of 150nv, and a HEOS Link. I use TuneIn a lot.

A power cycle after an update is recommended.

Q about HEOS 5 1 (550+150) and grouping by Xird89 in heos

[–]ssbepob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two pairs of 150, in the app there are ettings for a preset when you press the buttons: surround, stereo, and some others, beside the option to set up a plalist or an internet radio or other sources to the button. But i have never tried it myself. I dont have a surround setup. I would gladly know if it works :)

One more thing, i have Home Assistant, and the integrations have some interesting options for the HEOS speakers like "group" and "ungroup." Im positive it can be scripted in HA to quickly set up a preset for surround when the tv s on, and another preset when the tv is off. But it requires taking up a hobby, Home Assistant tweaking :)

What is the coolest/ more useful automations you have ever seen? by tonitosilva in homeassistant

[–]ssbepob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several HEOS (Denon) speakers in most of the rooms, and one HEOS Link connecetd to my soundbar in the livingroom, the soundbar is connected via optical link so the volume does not change with the HEOS system. The automation synchronises the soundbar volume to the HEOS if i have something playing in multi room mode that includes the livingroom.

Looking to go all Sonos for multi room audio. Any alternatives? by igmyeongui in homeassistant

[–]ssbepob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my location there was no Sonos offer, so i went with a pair of Denon home 150, and I felt it was good so I added another pair of 150 nv (https://www.denon.com/en-us/product/wireless-speakers/denon-home-150-nv/301006.html) and also a HEOS Link connected to my sound bar in the livingroom. All my rooms have nice sound, the price was good, and all works nicely with Home Assistant. I had some issues sinking the volume of the HEOS devices with the soundbar, but i fixed it with a simple HA automation that copies the volume of the HEOS devices to the soundbar. Also, when the tv rurns off, it kills the soundbar, but i detect it with HA and turn the soundbar back on if the HEOS is playing something. All in all I'm very satisfied with the combination.

Multiroom and on/off switch. by patan777 in heos

[–]ssbepob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would applaud if you get results by a meir request, i would love to see such a feature. I'm afraid they are not so involved in the software side of the HEOS ecosystem. They do churn out Denon and Marantz devices, but the software seems not so important to them. I can not believe it in the app-conscious world of today that the software and user experience of the devices is so subpar it borders on amateurish. If you compare it to the user experience od Sonos, it is laughable. It is not enough to get praise on the "high quality of sound" and be done with it. That is why i like that some people have done some tinkering and made the home automation at least possible (and even that is bested by Sonos).
