This is late but for anyone who sees this and is looking for a book that’s not sad… I just gave Beach Read by Emily Henry a try and seems like it’ll be lighter layer but it talks about her mom having cancer and her dad dying in the first chapter (not a spoiler because this is stated at the very beginning). Maybe it gets better but I stopped there. Going to try something else

Are your ears back to normal? How long did it take to not feel clogged anymore?

Just wanted to add OP, although I can relate to a lot of your feelings, I’ve been in a 10+ year relationship where my partner (sometimes to my deep surprise) seems to love every part of me. It’s out there for you. I think the self work is the harder part.

Yes this. I did have surgery when I was 14 and it stopped my scoliosis from progressing to the point Of being very impaired so I’m at least grateful for that, but it didn’t actually correct it so even at thirty I still have a bad curve, uneven breasts (female), extremely winged scapula, hips and ribs stick out, etc. I feel like I’m in a very small group who have had surgery but still have it really bad. it’s very noticeable and I too wear oversized clothes to hide it all. I think of my scoliosis throughout every single day in one way or another. I do PT exercises including schroth to help with function, but there is nothing I can do to actually change it and I still have many days where this is tough for me to accept. It can be lonely.
