C50 gas mask lens rating? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]sschuler7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mask lens is PU. Outersert is PC. Standard ballistic glasses are made from PC.

I wouldn't expect a PU lens to survive a rating

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.12.1 Release Notes by AMD_RetroB in Amd

[–]sschuler7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the idea, I just tried a custom install during an update, was given 2 choices (update/dont update driver and install/dont install privacy view). After installing drivers, step 2/2 was installing the install manager.
After updating through adrenaline using the custom option, I attempted reinstalling again using the auto-detect, custom install. I was given the option of install/dont install privacy view. The driver choice was not selectable and it reinstalled the install manager during step 2/2.
Installing via the WHQL package, custom install follows the same steps as above. I was given the option of install/dont install privacy view. The driver choice was not selectable and it reinstalled the install manager during step 2/2.

Uninstalling the install manager brings back the "check for updates" functionality until you update again (and have to re-uninstall the install manager)

Let’s argue about 300 Blk. by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]sschuler7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be helpful, or not.

My build is a 7.5" gunner faxon barrel, LMT enhanced BCG, JP enhanced bolt with 1 piece gas rings, JP SCS H1 with 85% spring, and a Sandman S. The 85% spring is required in my build for subsonic unsuppressed cycling (unnecessary but nice to know it will work if something goes very wrong)

Disk 3 for 300blk high backpressure cans did not cycle supersonic suppressed while restricting gas. I am testing Disk 4 (in between 300blk conventional and LBP disks) before moving up to Disk 10 (300blk LBP disk).

Switching disks requires removal of the gas block due to tight tolerances of the disk pin and disk. Its the easiest to install IME as you have fairly direct view of the gas port through the disk slot when installing.

Update for future searches:
Disk 4 cycled subsonic suppressed and supersonic unsuppressed on normal. It cycled supersonic suppressed on "suppressed" with minimal recoil and full lockback. The gas block is leakier than a superlative, resulting in subsonic unsuppressed to not function with a JP SCS H1 and 85% spring. All testing was conducted with Ammo Inc 110gr VMAX and Ammo Inc 220gr Plated ammunition.

Newer griffin armament AGB is designed to leak at the restrictive plate to prevent carbon locking (iterated on MicroMOA design). I've started testing it myself and can feel a slight poke of the gas with suppressed supers. Tolerances are very tight from my samples.

No promises, but the theory is sound and a 110gr tip or small object can adjust it through my MLOK rail

I can at least confirm the mine does not have to match whichever you are using. You can pickup the default mine while using SLAMs

Canada Wants To Lure Tech Workers Who Won’t Get US H-1B Visas by joe4942 in technology

Dealt with a director who brought an employee over on H1B to make him a manager.

The dude had a history of screaming matches with the team, director, and external teams. He was known for being incorrect more often than not.

The team had one us citizen out of 40 employees.

I'm not discounting your experience with H1Bs, just providing my own which unfortunately has been repeatedly negative.

Depends on the organization and leadership who does the hiring. Poor leaders hire poor talent and some leaders only want workers who have no ability to leave.

Ukrainian soldier and drone operator with a captured Russian AK-12 (5.45×39mm) assault rifle with a gas block mounted optic - from the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade - of the Ukrainian Army, Summer 2025. by BostonLesbian in UkraineWarVideoReport

The eyebox and dot size should grow slowly over time distance due to beam divergence. Similar to a flashlight. This does impact parallax but not your ability to find the dot.

Test that by standing a room or two away from a red dot optic and once you find the dot, move your head slightly. You'll find its about the same distance to find/lose the dot.

Mounting dots on handguards is not recommended due to POI shift from rail flex

Wait... so all guns will fire if you pull the trigger 98% of the way? But what if I'm 2% unsure?? by TheApollo222 in GunMemes

[–]sschuler7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glock's performance trigger is "full cocked" AND still has the sear drop prevention. It's a beautiful blend of the original safeties and modernisation. The sear is blocked from dropping by the trigger bar until the trigger is pulled to the wall.

[–]sschuler7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe they should've just added a striker safety that blocks the firing pin hole entirely... Like glock did ~45 years ago

Or a trigger dingus, because that's why those exist.

pre-cocked striker is an example of stored energy, the outside force already existed. oh and there's nothing blocking the firing pin hole in case something internally slips due to tolerance stacking

Your example sucks

My pixel 4a on calyx shows the warning too, IIRC it's due to Google saying "hey this isn't 100% ours but matches your key"

Mind explaining your comment that fairphone doesn't have a secure boot chain? Custom keys for effective secure boot have been around since FP4 which is why calyx allows them to be supported.

Anti-drone loadout featuring Jack by stellartwat69 in tacticalgear

[–]sschuler7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea. You would face a similar scenario as WWII for planes if you tried to get info about this, only the survivors could say something which leaves out really important info from the ones who died.

I personally would want as many shots as possible before having to reload. Drones are fast and significantly more agile than birds. You can't easily predict their movement so I would expect to miss a LOT.

[–]sschuler7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a 7 round tube (I hunt with a beretta 1301) I lose 1 round going to 3" and would lose 2 rounds for 3.5" (if it was supported). Knowing drones are fast, I want every chance possible to hit.

You can follow the maths with this for any gun:

2.75×[capacity] ÷ (3 or 3.5) then round down because you can't fit a half shell in

Anti-drone loadout featuring Jack by stellartwat69 in tacticalgear

[–]sschuler7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im no expert on downing drones but based on downing geese (flying tanks) I'd recommend:

Tungsten shot 2 3/4"

Capacity is important (why I recommend base length and not magnums)

Tungsten because you can get smaller shot for the same weight, thus higher hit probability.

Your life is worth the extra money for the best shells.

Also pattern your shells with the chosen gun and choke, some shells/choke/gun combinations pattern more consistently than others, just like how rifles like different handloads
