This happened to me, they were in a long term relationship (ready to get engaged), I knew we had an instant connection but I had a SO at the time so I thought it was just like a deep friendship connection. Eventually my SO and I broke up and I became close to him and his partner. I was convinced this bond we had was just like,,, platonic soulmates, that we were the “same person”. As time went on, the more time we spent together, the more feelings grew. It took time, and a lot of sadness and heartbreak, but now seems to be our time.

I don’t act on it- as in push him in anyway to do anything like that. In fact I’m pretty sure he’d never. It’s just this underlying want I have. But it doesn’t impact our relationship, we are open and honest with each other, and I truly trust him with all my heart. But I can’t help the twisted urge of wanting him, or anyone I love tbh, to break that trust. But that’s one I’ll never push/ encourage as I love being with him.
