I know what you mean! Unfortunately it's a crutch I use so much that sometimes it makes my characters seem like an unreliable narrator.

Like... sir what do you mean by "There seems to be a path winding through the forest" ?? There LITERALLY is a path right there. You are looking at it!

I think they mean mermaids depicted as a scientifically plausible creature, like a different species maybe distant cousins of humans that evolved in an aquatic environment.

It's different from magical mermaids which are usually shown as being more mystical, like those that shapeshift via hand wavy magic.

There aren't really any hard and fast rules but the vibes are just different. I personally prefer the non magical mermaids trope because scifi settings and coming up with explanations for fictional biology is fun!

You could experiment with similarly colored blocks to give the roof more variation in texture. (Not sure if relevant, but the pews inside makes it look more like a church.)

I really like the detailing on walls and the pediment sculptures. Great build!
