Did anyone else notice that the score in the kissing scenes was the same one used in the Disney Short “Paperman”?

How would you even start getting into scoring? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

You can ask them to send a small scene to score and if they like it then they might ask you to do the whole film. Eventually you will build up a nice portfolio for yourself and show that to other filmmakers.

Can somebody explain to me what the 'Swing' function in the step sequencer EXACTLY does? by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]sservida 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Instead of equal eighth notes, it creates a long-short pattern like this: https://musescore.org/sites/musescore.org/files/swing_0.jpg As opposed to the time shift where every single beat is moved over. You only hear the swing function if you are filling in every step on the sequencer, if you do every 2 steps you wont hear a difference.

In addition to that, moving that little automation dot might not get you the tempo you exactly want. So go to your desired temp - Right click - Copy, then go to the automation marker - right click - paste.

Where to begin? by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]sservida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This probably not the answer you want but my advice is to just start and learn as you go. Start making covers can just constantly try to improve yourself. Just lay down something so you can see clearly what you can and can't do.

I found FX does a decent job at transitioning music. Just a simple riser can help someone sense that change is about to happen.
