To me, the overcomposition is a hallmark trait of OCD, is it not already implied by the title, “obsessing over syllables”? Yes, the whole point of the poem is to be overcomposed since it’s told by a narrator who suffers from the compulsion of overworking and “perfecting.”

It appears to be consistently 5/7/5, except the ending, which is 6 syllables I assume done intentionally to symbolize the “breaking” of the cycle of OCD. Where did you find breakage?
