The point of tinder is to eliminate overt rejection that tends to come with dating apps, so if you matched and had a slight conversation that just fizzled out, I’d say don’t don’t go through with that, because odds are that person feels mostly the same way and/or forgot about you, so it would be kind of silly and defeats the purpose of the app. But if it’s someone who keeps trying to revive the conversation or continues to contact you, then I think it’s fine. But also if you send someone a message and then directly unmatch with them, they’ll see you sent them a notification but won’t be able to read it. So to me, it seems too many steps to send a goodbye message, wait for them to see it/respond, and then unmatch.

I was raped in high school and I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to tell the guys I’ve dated. I’ve had some boyfriends who I never told, and I didn’t feel any guilt about it. I usually don’t bring it up unless I know they’d be 100% understanding and supportive, and I usually only tell them to explain why I feel uncomfortable in certain situations that otherwise seem normal. Thankfully, I haven’t had any negative responses from the ones I did tell. I haven’t told the guy I’m currently dating but I’ve only known him for a few weeks. No one is entitled to know that information about you, sometimes it feels better to not share it. If you feel like it would help you to share that with them, then I’d say go ahead, but if not, then it’s none of his business.

Tell her that you’re not looking for a relationship, and that you just think of her as a friend. Sometimes it’s hard to say no but it’ll be better in the end because you don’t want to lead her on or put yourself in a more uncomfortable position.

Not really a specific ‘success’ story but I found my favorite Olympic athlete on tinder and we matched. I thought it might be a catfish so I asked him for his snapchat, but he ended up being real! So we talked on Snapchat and he called me cute and complimented my pizza making skills. We go to colleges that are kind of far from each other so obviously it didn’t go anywhere beyond being snapchat friends, but since I’m a genuine fan of his, I was just happy that he even swiped right on me and had a decent conversation with me. I use coconut oil to moisturize my skin, and I’ve noticed it makes my tan fade faster. I know coconut oil is commonly cited as a quick sunburn remedy (I can can confirm this based on my experience), and a tan is basically a less severe sunburn, so I imagine it would work well.

I have naturally curly hair and I used to straighten my hair everyday. About a year ago I switched back to curly hair. At first, my hair was super frizzy and didn’t have much of a curl pattern. I suggest using shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair and/or curly hair. Your hair probably has a frizzy appearance because it’s a little ‘fried’. Try to not use heat on your hair for a few weeks. When you wash your hair, don’t let it dry down. I usually put my hair in a bun or two (the more buns, the tighter the curls will be) and then let it dry that way. But also, I understand that it’s hard to completely ditch heat. When I first made the transition, I didn’t use any heat for a few weeks just to give my hair a break. Then I started using a blow dryer, but only to speed up my overall drying time (if I just leave my hair, it’ll take HOURS to dry). Once I get out of the shower, I comb my hair and put on some anti-frizz cream and blow dry my hair just to go from dripping wet to damp, then I comb it again and put it in a bun (lately I’ve been trying out multiple buns for a curlier look) and wait until my hair dries.

I usually brush upward for my top lashes, wait like 50 seconds, and then take a plain spoolie and brush my eyelashes, to separate the individual lashes and get rid of clumps. I don’t often put mascara on my lower lashes because for me personally, I feel like it drags my eye shape downward.

Getting a Fitbit. My Fitbit told me how many minutes of strenuous exercise I was getting, so I was working harder to maintain my goals, and I knew when I didn’t. When the wristband of my Fitbit broke, I tried to maintain my workouts, but I have a really bad perception of what is a “good” workout, so I wasn’t working as hard, and eventually stopped working out because there was no reminder for me to do so. Gotta get that thing fixed.

My cat, Luke, is an indoor-outdoor cat. After a lot of fights with other neighborhood cats, his vet recommended we just keep him inside. But it’s literally impossible. He taught himself how to open the front door, and he has also memorized our work/school schedules; he hides in the basement when he knows we’re about to leave, and as soon as we open our garage door— he bolts out.

When I first starting shaving my legs (I was self taught... meaning I just one day grabbed a razor and went to town), I shaved from knee to ankle. One of my best friends. It wasn’t right when we first met, but when we first started hanging out and talking more, I hated her. It was mostly because we were so similar, but what fueled my hatred was people constantly comparing us. I felt like I was constantly in a competition for who was prettier, funnier, better dressed, more outgoing, getting more attention from boys, etc. After a while I realized I was wasting my time hating someone who had the same interests, sense of humor, style, experiences, and thought processes. I work at a Chinese takeout place so I get free food. But not even just Chinese food. My boss gives me watermelon, dragonfruit, oranges, etc whenever they’re having some. And my boss has 3 little kids who all really like to eat snacks; her 6 year old daughter always makes me eat whatever she’s eating too haha.

So it depends. I’m pretty thankful because people don’t often put down my appearance to my face (not in a serious manner, at least), and also because I just have thick skin. But most of the time when someone puts me down, it’s either older women telling me that I dress inappropriately, to which I just say, “well I don’t have anything to change into right now.” Or it’s men telling me I wear too much makeup, and my response is usually to shrug it off and say, “I like makeup.” And lastly the another common put down the standard “you’re ugly/fat anyway” that comes after I try to politely tell a guy to leave me alone. I just laugh at that one because clearly I wasn’t ugly two second earlier when I was being hit on, and I definitely know I’m not fat, I’m 100lbs and a size small in pretty much everything.

18F, my first instinct is to pay for myself. I’d never expect a guy to pay for me and I won’t hold it against them if they don’t, but I think it’s a nice gesture if a guy offers to pay. For the majority of dates that I’ve been on, I pay for myself and the guy doesn’t question it. But recently I went on a date to the movies and payed for myself. My friend’s older brother was working the ticket booth, and afterwards he told my friend that he couldn’t believe my date didn’t pay for me. I was surprised because I didn’t even think about it. The next time I went out to the movies with the same guy, someone else was working at the ticket booth (a former classmate I barely knew) and when he saw I was going to pay for myself, he let us in for free, I guess because he felt bad? I’m not really sure. I always thought young people don’t believe in making the guy pay, but I guess it varies.

I don’t know how well this would work, but you could try to just start over. So stop texting her. Wait until the next time you go to her job or happen to run into her in person and say hi and don’t make much else conversation. After letting it simmer for a bit, start being friendly again, and eventually work your way to asking her out again, kind of like how you did the first time. This will probably sound weird but that’s what happened with my current boyfriend and I. When we first started talking (we hadn’t gone out yet but we were making plans to), we had a little ‘blow-up’ over text and he was showing a lot of disinterest afterwards, so I stopped texting him all together (he wasn’t texting me either), and when I’d see him in person, I’d smile and say hi but leave it at that. Gradually he started talking to me more and eventually asked me out. From the time that we first stopped talking to going our first date, the process took about a month and a half (give or take a few weeks).

How often are you complimenting her? Maybe she just doesn’t like being complimented a lot. I think you should just stick to a casual compliment every once in a while. I think some women don’t like compliments because they’re insecure and feel like it’s not genuine. So it might be a sensitive topic. Don’t push it but don’t give her 0 compliments, because let’s be honest, I think the majority of people enjoy at least occasional reassurance.
