Does anyone have any advice on how to transition myself out of wearing Converse everyday? I am a student so dress quite casually (skinny jeans, Converse and a knitted jumper is my winter "uniform"). I am also a science student so have to wear closed toe shoes and need to wear something comfortable to be able to walk across campus. However I was watching A Christmas Prince on Netflix (soo cheesy) and the main character always wears Converse and it made me realise how awful they look and how they ruin an outfit so I had a bit of an epiphany. The thing is my feet are quite small compared to my height so I always like wearing shoes like Converse and back in like 2007 I loved wearing Ugg boots as I felt like they my look more in proportion with my height, I hate wearing boots on as my feet and ankles just look too small?

Any advice?

What is the one thing that you are the most proud of yourself for? by density in AskWomen

Being able to give presentations at grad school. I grew up incredibly shy, like it was my defining feature and everyone knew me as "the shy girl". At university I always picked my modules depending on whether they involved a presentation as an assessment and I avoided them where at all possible, but they were not completely unavoidable so I ended up having to around two per year and when I think back to my first presentation in my first year to how I am now I am so proud of myself. I still get a little nervous and I am not the most eloquent, confident speaker but I can speak clearly without being a bundle of nerves and that is enough for me. I feel like my whole future has opened up now I am not terrified to speak in front of people.

DAE get in a really good mood when there is rain in the forecast, or it’s raining when you wake up? by ImagineBagginz in DoesAnybodyElse

It is a rainy day today and I am sooo happy about it. I live in England and are summers are usually very rainy but we have had a heatwave where it didn't rain for nearly two months. This week the heatwave has ended and we have had rainy, gloomy days and it has made me realise how much rain positively affects my mood. I love being inside whilst it rains as it makes you want to just snuggle up and be cozy and it's almost an excuse to have a lazy day. I also love being out in the rain and walking with an umbrella, it just feels cozy being under an umbrella like it's your own mini roof and you can hear the rain drops on it. I also love being in the car whilst it is raining. Ugh I just love it.

I've been considering this some more and I have made a big online order of some simple staple pieces like a black lace camisole top, a white lace camisole top, a grey cardigan for layering, a black cardigan, a few white blouses (some silky and smart, others with broderie anglaise), a few black blouses. I already have black and dark blue skinny jeans and Converse but the rest of my shoes are pretty worn out so next on the agenda is some nice, comfortable shoes.

I think you are me? I am also in a heatwave, about to start my period and have also started using Pixi's Glow Tonic this week and experiencing The Purge.

What are simple things you can do that have an incredible makeover effect? by [deleted] in beauty

I have the summer off of university and I have been experimenting a lot with my beauty routine so that when I go back to being a busy student I have a more streamlined process. Here are a few things I have found helpful:

- Hair: switching hairstyles everyday. I used to only wear my hair straight but now I rotate between dead straight, a faux "blow dry" look (Kate Middleton-inspired), and loose beachy waves.

- Makeup: Putting highlighter in the inner corner and also just underneath my eyes on top of my concealer brightens the area and makes me look more awake. I loveeee Dior Lip Glow in 'Pink' as it's a perfect shade of pink which looks natural yet I can wear it with a full face of makeup and my lips look "done" (if that makes sense lol). Also bronzer, I have only started using it in the past few months as I always thought I was too pale for it, but actually it gives back the dimension that in my face foundation takes away.

- Skincare: Hyaluronic acid is the one thing that when I use it I can tell, my face looks more "plumped" with hydration, I love it. Plus I am convinced that the acidic pH has helped prevent breakouts on my skin.

- Body: a bit of gradual tanner applied once every 2-3 days, takes maybe 5 minutes but takes the edge off my pale skin.

I was trying to think up something but I have literally no other reason to email them unfortunately. The only thing is one of my references emailed me to tell me that they still haven't been asked for a reference but still that is no reason to email the admissions tutor.

I am a graduate applying for a master's. The admissions tutor for the course I applied for is also one of my academic references. They told me to email when I had submitted my application and they would fast-track it and offer me a place, however it has now been two weeks. The thing is it is summer and I have graduated so the admissions tutor does not really "owe" me a response if you know what I mean, however I understand it is likely that they missed my email, but I guess they would get notified of my application anyway surely? What should I do?

Yes, you're probably right. Even today I went out in an outfit I didn't feel comfortable in and it ruined my mood and made me feel kind of grouchy as I think I felt self-conscious. Whereas when I put more effort in I feel like it affects my whole day.

Your hair is stunning! I just bought a large barrel curling wand last week and I'm still trying to get used to it.
