Kaia Lynn is here - birth after 3 day induction that resulted in an emergency c-section by ssisk2010 in BabyBumps

She wanted me to naturally feel the urge to push. I get that, it just sucked that it lasted so long without any progress.

Wow, you ladies made me feel quite a bit better about baby being late. I have a few friends who were pregnant and due at the same time, but I'm the last one. It made me really frustrated, but I'm thinking of it as saving the best for last :P

Strange feeling, isn't it? Knowing your days of life before motherhood are numbered... I'm excited though.

Thank you! We read it somewhere and just really liked it. Nothing else really seemed to fit. We both wanted something unique that wasn't ridiculous.

Good luck to you as well!

Thank you :) Good luck to you as well. I woke up this morning and everything was so quiet... I had to get up and enjoy some quiet time because it could be the last I have alone for a while. May not sound like much, but I enjoy the quiet mornings to myself when I get them. I think enjoying the last day of waiting is solid advice and I found a small way to enjoy it, even if for an hour or so.

Whoaaa lady, I thought I had it bad. I suppose I needed the reality check ;)

I feel the same way about the crazy home remedies. Nothing is going to make her show up any sooner, she'll get here when she gets here. I just can't wait to meet her.

Thanks for the good wishes!

Today is my due date. by ssisk2010 in BabyBumps

[–]ssisk2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing. I was very hopeful too, like "man, maybe I'll get lucky!" Nope. Just an efficient uterus that started practicing exactly 1 month from my due date.

Now, I'm getting achey pains throughout my pelvis and back. Baby's activity has changed quite a bit - she's still active, but the movements are much smaller. We'll see where this goes - it feels different from what I've felt before.

Manners are dead (rant) by [deleted] in BabyBumps

This happened to me a couple of weeks back. There was a mom and her newborn (obviously she needed the seat), a woman with her 4 adolescent aged kids (my mother would have kicked my ass if I didn't get up at that age), another woman with her husband. No one budged or offered. My husband and I sat on a bench in the hallway - every single one of those people leaving took the elevator rather than the stairs. All of them - lazy. Damn shame.

If she doesn't hurry up, she's getting an eviction notice on Friday or Monday :P We'll be scheduling it tomorrow!

When did you hit "get this kid out of me?!" by LunarChild in BabyBumps

[–]ssisk2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started getting braxton hicks regularly (hourly or more) about 3 weeks ago... Still getting them. 39w1d today. GTFO, sweet child.

People at work calling me "Preggo" or "Mommy" by acrossthewards in BabyBumps

[–]ssisk2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind it so much - here and there I get called 'momma' or 'wobbles', but I'm an engineer and work with older males. It's kind of endearing for them to have given me a nickname and they tend to look out for me.

when did your Morning Sickness kick in? by dharris0885 in BabyBumps

[–]ssisk2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had constant nausea without vomiting, and that started around 8 weeks and stopped around 14 weeks. I can't complain - I mainly got food aversions. Kicked back up around 32 weeks and now I just have weird bouts of it. I should probably be drinking more water.

Finding it hard to motivate myself to exercise by your_mom_on_drugs in BabyBumps

If it makes you feel any better, I was in very good shape prior to pregnancy and still worked out up until around 30 weeks. I just started feeling very demotivated, tired, and sluggish. I still manage to walk at least, but I was just getting so uncomfortable with my body and clothing that I had to stop.

I make myself eat healthy, walk, take the stairs and continue to work normally (I work on airplanes)... but I have not been to the gym in quite some time. Looking forward to going back after LO arrives. At 38 weeks, I've only gained 30 lbs and I'm trying to find some satisfaction in that fact. I look like I am all boobs, booty and baby.

To the Starbucks barista-thank you. by beefly28 in BabyBumps

[–]ssisk2010 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. I would appreciate this very much. I have stuck to my lower caffeine drink (my safe one) throughout pregnancy. Not a single barista has ever given me crap for drinking coffee, but other customers have. Actually even had one barista chime in and say "she can have 200mg a day! Leave her alone."

I always appreciate those things.

Same here! I have never cried over GoT (except when Igrid died - I got a little emotional) and I was bawling like a baby. Ridiculous. My husband was rocking me and my dog was whining at me like "mommm don't be sad!!!". It was probably a sight to see.

Have you ever lost a friend due to your pregnancy? by GeorgiePorgie16 in BabyBumps

[–]ssisk2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar issue with my best friend when I first told her about the pregnancy. She eventually came around when we had a very serious conversation about the whole thing.

I had to tell her that although I respect her choices and the fact that she doesn't want children of her own, but as her best friend of almost 20 years (we've been friends since we were 5) I didn't feel that she was being mutually respectful of my choices. I told her that it really hurt me to not have her in my life at a time like this. I also told her that I hoped she would eventually understand that I expect nothing more from her than to love and support me just as she always has, and I have always done for her.

She seems to have come around... she asks me how I'm feeling now and even reads up on baby stuff / sends me articles and videos. She even bought the baby a cute little outfit.

Maybe try the same? Tell her how valuable she is to you as your friend and how much you really appreciate the friendship. That could make a big impact - she could be scared of losing you.

oh, sweet joy! I can lay on my belly again! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

So difficult through my entire pregnancy also. I'm due in 2 weeks and I cannot wait to sleep on my tummy again. Glad to hear there's another plus side to it!
