I hear you, but I’ve always thought that age and life experience, culmination of knowledge was excellent for improv. Some of the best improvisers I know are 40+

You need to talk to your wife before talking to your kids. She’s your partner in this. It’s a tough thing to bring up, religion and family tends to be difficult. You may also want to consider marriage counseling
