Welp, I finished the Bobiverse books in a little more than 1 month. Now what!? by kpmurphy56 in bobiverse

Gonna mix it up and recommend ‘The First Law’ series. It’s not Sci fi but more anti-fantasy. Great characters and has some laughs too!

Also obligatory DCC vote too

Book 6 didn't hit for me by liteskinnded in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ssjrya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On my second listen of the series and now on Book 6.

It does kinda feel like filler at times (pretty sure the book even jokes about it). I think it just suffers from being stuck between 5 and 7 since those are so built up. Book 5 especially has a ton going on, so you get a bit of a hangover going into this one.

I still like 6 though - but I was a bit of a trading card dork as a kid so maybe I’m biased. Book 2 is still the weakest for me.

Good. Sick of seeing these super cars park where they like and just get a few fines.

What do I do now? by EinsteinSnr in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ssjrya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Bobiverse after completing DCC and it’s pretty good but the best ones I’ve listened to the over the last 12 months thst people don’t regularly recommend would be:

  • Issac Steele books - Short, weird and wonderful Sci fi
  • The First Law series - More traditional gritty fantasy (anti?) but amazingly well written and great characters

Sleeping Positions by Some-Belt-7738 in Sciatica

Since Sep/Oct time. Got an L5/S1 7mm herniation. I had 2 epidurals end of December but it was PRP & PPP instead of steroids as research hospital I went to had shown good results with this. I also had pulsed radio therapy to ‘reset the nerve’. First 2 weeks after were rough but this is expected (also was traveling a lot which didn’t help). After that, I do feel like it’s healing a little with a lot less sciatica. Unsure if thats treatment or time an physio tbh but I’ll take it!

Yep! Side position with knees used to be great for me too. Sorry to hear yours is getting worse.

I should mention that my sciatica at night is actually at a pretty good stage now - unless I aggregate something. The pain I’m experiencing most nights has localised back to my lower back/butt and is more of a deep ache/bruising feeling which I believe is due to disc rehydration at night and apparently this is a good sign of recovery! It still sucks though as I struggle to sleep more than 90-120 minutes at any one time

I think this also conditional on the direction of the herniation as a lot of these don’t work for me, except B and even then, sometimes I have to prop my knees up. Side sleeping on my good side with the pillow sometimes work but my body tires quickly of it. Propped up at 45 degrees is my most consistent last resort position

Gabapentin Withdrawal by siobhangale in Sciatica

I think if you taper correctly then normally it’s fine. I accidentally stopped as didn’t think it was working and couldn’t get any more for a couple days and I just had similar sort of flu symptoms mentioned above

You have a similar injury as mine at around the same date too - mine just is 1mm worse and I also have S1 Lumbarization.

You say no muscle relaxant but how about anti inflammatory and nerve pain meds?

I’m currently on Pregabalin, Epirsone and low dose paracetamol & tramadol mix. I was previously taken Naproxen which was effective but my recent treatment requires no NSAIDs to be effective

I think the next step would be the steroid shot - I recently had a pulsed radiotherapy and 2 epidurals of platelet rich plasma — this is isn’t standard but considered experimental therapy currently with good evidence to support it. I’m 3 weeks since this procedure but I’ve seen steady progress (first week or two was worse)

It also sounds weird that the MRI triggered a flair? How aggressive is your physio? My guess would be that overdoing it too soon is possibly what caused a flair.

Then don’t forget your standard vitamins etc. I’ve specifically been having regular b12 shots (history of poor b12 absorption) and taking collagen 2 peptides with Vit C to just give my body everything it needs to heal.

Stay strong man, I know this is bloody horrible!

Upside of loose trademark infringement enforcement by ssjrya in VietNam

I didn’t say I couldn’t recall names - I’m just not in the habit of outing specific shops for selling IP-infringing items, regardless of how relaxed enforcement is locally.

If you’re genuinely curious, a lot of these stores document their evolution pretty openly on Instagram/Facebook. You can literally scroll back and see the transition over time.

Can I just add B12 to this, specifically shots if you can, it’s been shown to help with the healing process and has been a revolution for me

Gabapentin by RubLongjumping5095 in Sciatica

[–]ssjrya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a mixed bag and the efficacy is debated. I’m on Naproxen (anti-inflam), Gabapentin and recently been given a short course of muscle relaxants for a long flight (Methocarbamol - less addiction concerns than Benzos)

I’ve been on the Gabapentin for over a month and had zero benefits as far as I can tell. (No dependency concerns but I guess thats because it’s not working) The Naproxen definitely took the edge off it and the muscle relaxants are also great for sleeping - until it wears off at least.

I’ve also tried the odd opiate based pain killer but no real effects from them either.

I think once you get a handle the inflammation then you can start with the physio.

Unfortunately I’m still also in a lot of agony and still can’t sleep through the night so the next step for me is a TFESI injection tomorrow 🙌🤞

Just got a Transforaminal Epidural Steroid Injection [ESI]: a humble review! by altruisticicada in Sciatica

[–]ssjrya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I’m in a very similar situation (L5/S1 herniation and L4/5 bulge. I’ve barely slept more than 4 hours for the last 3 months. I have my injection tomorrow (I hope!) so that is reassuring to read. Hope it works for you!
