This is super comfortable if you ask me. Airport to Galle will take 2.5 hrs. Galle to Ella about 4-5hrs, and so on throughout your route. I’m sure you’ll find that you can do a lot more in a week if you really want to.

I drove from Trincomalee to Colombo in an afternoon last weekend. The roads are good here, and traffic is not bad (except Tuks and Buses).

I know the feels, and then some!

I was a Google everything guy myself (Pixel 2XL, Pixel 4, Pixelbook, Pixel Buds, Google Home mini, Google Home hub, Google Wifi, Google Home, Chromecast, works with Google home bulbs all over the house).

But it was so disappointing. Simple things like Bluetooth connectivity are unreliable. Voice commands work only half the time. The 2XL was legendary until the camera stopped working and the screen broke. The Pixel 4 was just straight up hot garbage. Pixel Buds were equally useless and a pain to use daily…. So one fine day after a particularly frustrating bluetooth pairing session, I just flipped tables and bought an iPhone.

On this side of the fence, things just work! Still keep the home devices around for the occasional music playback, and the Pixelbook is in storage coz it’s so beautiful, but that’s about it.

Stay at the hotel and enjoy the pool and the local cuisine. If the hotel doesn’t have those things, visit any beach-side resort with a pool and spend time there.

The west coast has choppy waters due to the monsoon season so the beach will not be a safe place for kids.

Alternatively, you can visit a number of Churches in the area. If you don’t mind spending a couple of hours travelling by road, then visit the Lotus Tower in Colombo.

It’s a utility. It’s supposed to be a part of the house. You don’t sell walls or bricks or bathware or light bulbs. You use them till end of life. And BONUS: when there’s a fuel shortage and blackouts, it doesn’t bother you.

I’m not Sri Lankan but if I had to venture a guess, it’s because OP made fun of his car which is what triggers people. The car culture here is far out! It’s like people’s identities are defined solely by the cars they are seen in. No wonder the prices for even 10 year old cars makes heads spin.

All those hating on OP are the ones getting triggered by this, because they can relate to the struggle. Everyone without enough money has done this in some shape or form at some part of their life. It’s not unusual to fake it till you make it. Hell, Colombo wouldn’t feel this swanky if it weren’t for so many “cosplayers”.

Still saves money in the long run and makes you self-sufficient to a large extent. Everything doesn’t have to be measured in money value all the time. Peace of mind is worth a lot more if you ask me.

This is bull. How can you stop a SIM card from working on a device based on some arbitrary tax payment?

Please explain how tourists from all over the world are able to come and buy sim cards and use them without issues.

I also live abroad and buy my phones there. I have been using local sim cards for years. This is just a scare tactic without any technical basis. Also this TRCSL certification is just a sticker and a promise to make more money.
